network recorder not showing in devices after following instructions

I changed the delay in Network Recorder XML file to 5000. Not sure what you mean by "post R2" running. I've got Live TV working inside XBMC. Only issue so far is that there is a 10 sec delay from the time I select a channel till it plays on the screen. I'm not sure if that's normal or not. I've tested several setting adjustment (even though I wasn't sure what I was doing), but the delay remains in both NPVR and XBMC.
Seems I'm getting closer. I appreciate your help.

Much closer. I meant post r2 patches to see if that was what caused NextPVR to stop after a couple of seconds.

I bumped you up to 5000 but you might not need that much. Every time you change it it for testing, you need to restart the recording service, you want the lowest number that gives you stable playback.

In general tuningi n XBMC is slower than using NextPVR. If you are running timeshifting in XBMC on top of the delay I could foresee 5-10 second tuning.

I had a similar set of questions on my initial setup since I was also using the Network Recorder plugin with SageDCT. Even within the NPVR app I was getting delay

mvallevand's advice is great, but I had one other thing slowing down tuning and channel changes. Too many decoders! After advice in a different thread, I used the default MS DVD-DTV decoder for video, and LAV audio for MPEG1 and AC3 with all other audio decoder options disabled. May not apply to you, but it helped speed things up for me

I dont see LAV in the list of audio decoders. Is there another name it could be listed as?

You need to install it either standalone or via a codec pack. The suggestion would only improve NextPVR client playback not XBMC. The key iprovement is turning off all the audio decoders you don't need for live tv. If you only use a Ceton yo can most likely even disable mpeg audio and just go with ac3 using the registry key

Right, forgot to mention that part. In troubleshooting, I first improved NPVR only to obtain a mental "benchmark" before manipulating XBMC
