As long as <WakeupPreRecordingSeconds> is long enough to let the machine get to sleep, it'll still be woken when the recording is ready to kick in.

This logic was intended to keep the machine being in a 'in the process of going to sleep' state when the wakeup was scheduled to happen.

I think some logic problem has crept into that bit of code and it's not running.

I notice on my system that <WakeupPreRecordingSeconds> is set to 90, which is 30+ seconds too short given that the wakeups are sheduled for 2 minutes prior to recording start. It's set to 90 in Config-master-do-not-edit.xml too, so that's the default. When you fix the bug preventing that logic from working, shouldn't the default be changed to at least 130 to cover the entire interval between the wake and recording start, plus 10 seconds to be safe?

Unless NRecord blocks sleep the length of the wake period and sleep time are largely immaterial. If the sleep gets called after wake time, good night. I suspect one of the reasons it is our wives' shows that are impacted is we want to do maintenance before the shows start and we trigger our misfortune when we stop using the server.

Nothing to add to this thread, other than to say this problem has just bitten me yet again. You'd think the chances of it happening would be tiny too...

Just missed an 11pm recording, I couldn't have timed this as a test better if I wanted too

Which reminds me that I was going to get my son to write a shutdown script to check if another recording is due in the next 10 minutes in which case I would prevent a shutdown. It has only happened to me once in recent months and that was after I happened to wake the server to check the EPG about 10 minutes before a recording so slept just before the recording was to start.

Is this still an ongoing issue ?? It also happened on GBPVR and I setup a cron task on my firewall that would wake the pvr for "important" recordings - it seemed to help a lot but it was a real pain to maintain the cron schedules.

I wonder if pBS's Shutdown Protector, available in this post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post458052 could have its functionality expanded to cover the time period before a recording starts?

I was testing it today on Windows 8.1 (32bit) and it works perfectly on in progress recordings - putting the computer in to away mode when you press the sleep button on the remote and continues recording.

Twice in the last couple of months I have gone to bed half an hour before a recording has been due which meant the computer went to sleep at exactly the time it should have been waking up
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I've thought about tweaking the System plugin to cope with this, but it would mean it'd have to be active and monitoring all the time, rather than only when it's the active screen, so it's not something I'm keen on doing.

It really should be part of the core app. and sub does have it on his list for the next release http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post466578 I frankly don't think sub fully realizes how often this is happening or it would have been addressed earlier.
