Glad you got it sorted out.

I expect that having zero as the start point of comskip could cause problems for many players, even the PCH I believe there is a ini setting to control this. If you manually move the value up it might allow better control

You got the Kodi GUI because the key you hit was like clicking the mouse you can even see the arrow on your image.

Thank you Martin for all your patience :-).

I know this is not your thing, but do you have any suggestion from experience what will work?
I read this https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...vr-padding

A. There is a min_commercial_break_at_start_or_end=39 (default) parameter that my comskip never had (doesn't have now).
B. There is a delete_show_before_first_commercial=1 parameter that my comskip never had (doesn't have now).

latest default comskip ini has neither; Tuning file mentions delete_show_before_first_commercial but not min_commercial_break_at_start_or_end.

Code:
0.00    77.40    3
710.64    858.72    3
1495.56    1585.20    3
2214.48    2307.84    3
3025.80    3151.80    3
3920.88    4075.08    3

I set the 0.00 to 5.00 and it seemed to work, slight pause then off it went as expected; is there a way to set this manually for every first commercial that you know of?

Also, is there a way to map the Blue Button to bring up the OSD in XNEWA like on the PCH?

I just went through the GUI editor and think the setting is "delay_logo_search" maybe change the ini and try your file again.

If you can map the Blue to Alt-B it will act like NextPVR sorry I won't be helping on keymapping.

Hmm I tried =3 (secs) but no change. Will try 20 and see if any effect.

No problem there's a Button Mapper on the Google Play store that works with my TV - will try it out.

delay_logo_search=20 didn't work.... BUT .... I found an animal that will do it :-).

always_keep_first_seconds=3; Added by KM to not have 0.00 at start.
always_keep_last_seconds=0; Added by KM for completeness.

Resultant edl....

Code:
[B][color=#FF0000]3.03[/color][/B]    77.40    3
710.64    858.72    3
1495.56    1585.20    3
2214.48    2307.84    3
3025.80    3151.80    3
3920.88    4075.08    3

Good to go :-)

Seems to only be an issue where the first commercial is relatively short (albeit 77 secs should be long enough).

Hi Martin,

Back again :-)

Playing a show, there's two observations which don't seem right

  1. 1st skip works OK by itself, I then skip forward and watching the timeline, it appears to skip BACKWARDS; but then on the next attempted skip it has gone forward anyway. It jumps back and then forward each time I try to skip.
  2. 2nd observation is if I do this, and make the green bar land a few seconds before the next ad, the next ad does NOT skip, it's like it turns off ad-skipping altogether.

http://paste.kodi.tv/udufegisur

Any hints as to how I can improve this please, XNEWA is the only way to get the skips to work and and show the timeline, hence me persisting with it. I don't really want to go back to the PCH, but TBH, that device seems to handle this better than Kodi/Android has, for me anyway.

Cheers

k.

(Ignore the keyboard.xml error in the log, not significant anyway and I fixed it).
Also, I am not sure why there are so many ffmpeg errors, but (after this log) I downloaded a new ffmpeg (32 bit, I assume 64 bit is no good with NextPVR being 32 bit); do you think it would help?

1st question: Are you seeing this behavior with all recordings or only some of them. I have found a few recordings either won't skip or have problems with skipping (both auto-skip from EDL file and/or manual skip with left/right buttons) in kodi/X-NEWA. It doesn't happen very often, so I've never really tracked it down. I'm guessing it's related to a "bad" timeline and since the kodi player doesn't use the timing.info file, it gets confused and just ignores the skip or something.

1st observation: I'm not finding the kodi debug log file. You need to be sure to enable debugging in kodi and then also include the kodi.log file.

2nd observation: I see a couple of manual skip attempts by pressing the right arrow button. In the first one:
Code:
2019-02-28 15:43:00.397    [DEBUG][1]    ClientSwipe(media=426.966033936)
2019-02-28 15:43:01.237    [DEBUG][1]    ClientKeyPress(Right)

  "screen": "Videos",

2019-02-28 15:43:01.728    [DEBUG][13]    Updating OSD.
In this case, I'm thinking that it worked OK because both the "After skipping position" and the next "ClientSwipe" are showing the desired new position of 486.

But in the next case:
Code:
2019-02-28 15:43:05.071    [DEBUG][13]    Setting activity:
2019-02-28 15:43:06.079    [DEBUG][1]    ClientSwipe(media=490.4090271)

2019-02-28 15:43:07.004    [DEBUG][1]    User is trying to skip.
2019-02-28 15:43:07.004    [DEBUG][1]    Current position is: 490.4090271

2019-02-28 15:43:07.004    [DEBUG][1]    2 extras
2019-02-28 15:43:07.004    [DEBUG][1]    [B]After skipping position reports as: 550.4090271[/B]
2019-02-28 15:43:07.012    [DEBUG][13]    Updating OSD.
2019-02-28 15:43:07.035    [DEBUG][13]    DoCompositeRendering() save too 16.0165ms
2019-02-28 15:43:07.096    [DEBUG][1]    [B]ClientSwipe(media=491.430023193)[/B]
2019-02-28 15:43:07.096    [DEBUG][13]    Updating OSD.
I'm guessing this one didn't work because the "After skipping position" is showing as 550 as desired, but the "ClientSwipe" position is back at the 491.

I'm not sure what the "ClientSwipe" actually means, but I'm sure that Martin will know. Smile
