So looks like dvbv5-scan didn't like your ABC frequency in Melbourne either. It's complaining that it can see stuff on that frequency but the 'SDT' (that contains the channel names) is not found.

If you're able to capture a full transport stream with the steps Martin provided above, I'll hopefully be able to tell why. I'm not sure I'll be able to fix it in NextPVR or not though - given it looks like it's the linux tv api that is having an issue with the data (ie, not a NextPVR component)

No - every channel requires a name. QAM is a special case, since name isn't typically available there.

I was assuming the dvbv5-scan was creating the conf file with a name something like

ps. to run this command should I in the correct directory, currently in "service.nexpvr", shouldn't I be in dvb-t where au-Melbourne resides? see below

You seem to be missing the point that I asked you to create the file called melbourne.  Unzip the file I created for you in the attached and use it instead.

G'day, and thanks, just ran dvbv5 for "melbourne" and it scanned ok. I then opened the user interface on 8866 and it wouldn't scan. "au-Melbourne" did scan minus ABC 2.

The dvbv5-zap was not to scan nor to help with NextPVR right away.. It should have created a file fullmux.ts which I asked you to upload to a cloud storage site. This could be GoogleDrive OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
