Looks like it's been there since 6.0.1.

I'm getting issues making NextPVR work with any of the 6.x versions; sometimes streamlink runs fine, but clicking "Watch Now" on the channel returns the dreaded "Transcode Exited". I'm going to check the logs when I have some time to see if I can work out why. So far the only version that worked right out-of-the-box was 3.1.1

Interestingly I have not, in VERY limited testing so far, had this issue.

streamlink initially 6.5.5 since it's release and 6.6.2_1 for the last few days. I'm not sure if this only pertains to certain channels or circumstances. Doing some addtnl testing today.

It only happens on a few channels, but one of them happens to be one I want to record.

I think I need to do a complete reset and start again from a fresh install. It only takes about 30 mins to set up from a clean install of Ubuntu, which is probably faster that trying to debug the issues. In the new install, I'll use 6.6.2, and set everything up clean, and then if it fails, I'll start to debug. It will probably be a while before I get time to do it though.

Yeah, I'm traveling for a week so other than some limited testing today won't be doing any until later next week.

I picked something short and recorded from a channel I know is bad. The .ts file below is the result.

I had a look at the file and there are two video streams in it which most players don't handle.  The prime video stream is not great either, let's wait to see if newer versions of streamlink are better.  PBR is not available here in Canada.

I had some time and installed 6.6.2 on Linux and noticed I did have to make some changes to streamlink itself to get it to work.  It's not designed for headless server and wants an X session or an installation in ~/    I forced no-config,  hardcoded to the plugin path and changed the cache folder to something the nextpvr user could write to.

OK, thanks Martin, I wondered why 6.6.2 wasn't working properly when I tried it. My system has no X or Wayland. I was thinking of installing the desktop so that I have the libraries, but just not running on startup; I usually do this so I can run ssh -X to set DISPLAY and start GUI applications which display to my client desktop.

I think I may have resolved the smart DNS issue, so I'm going to give it another try on my main NextPVR server, which is a system that does have a desktop installed.

I assume NextPVR will run streamlink in headless mode anyway, since it has no display; do I need to make any modifications to the args in extra-pluto.xml to make it work for 6.6.2? I notice it uses the "-O" flag to send to stdout, do I need anything else for 6.6.2 other than an install of X?

The Pluto extra worked without changes on my US VPS for playing PBR on 6.6.2 You still will have to change streamlink files even if you have a desktop since the service is headless and won't be using X. Otherwise It is possible that sub's instructions that run as a user might be better.
