So you've set things up so that when you open the NextPVR UI, you see three directories (let's call them His, Hers, Ours) and then you or she can navigate to the desired directory? I'll have to play with this, currently all I see is one single consolidated list of folders for each of the shows that have been recorded.

If you look under RECORDINGS/MENU click on FILTER to select the other directories.
Of course you have to first add the directories.

Thanks, I'll try creating some directories and see how it works.

I have just installed WinTV-dualHD from Hauppage and NextPVR. I use Australian free-to-air TV. How do I get closed captions?

Thanks

It depends on the client.  Since you posted in a thread about the Windows client the first thread showed  Ctrl-X as documented on the wiki but there are other options that are more remote or mouse friendly.

I've managed to get the closed captions working by setting the source. Is there any way to configure the font size and screen position of the captions? At present, they're in a small font near the top right corner.
Thanks

How do you playback live TV and Recordings where you want to view the subtitles? The options typically are the dedicated Windows client NextPVR.exe that this thread was discussing or perhaps the web browser based client or Kodi which are commonly used.

I've tried all the possibilities - NextPVR on my PC, kodi on my PC, and kodi on my smart TV. The captions move around the screen depending on who's talking, and the font size varies but is generally too small, even when viewing on my 24 inch PC monitor, and much worse on the TV.

Anything to do with Kodi display needs to be discussed on the Kodi forum, which seems like your prime player.

NextPVR.exe would probably need a sample since Australia might be showing teletext for subtitles if the stream you are playing has dvb-subtitles those are usually clearer. Options can vary by show too. Maybe look at yauiclient, depending on the subtitle type there can be some configuration. There is also uidroid if your smart TV is Android. There will be a yauiclient for it too which will supersede uidroid.

For the most part, the broadcaster decided where the text is shown.

As Martin said, it'd probably be good to get a sample recording so we can see what you see.
