Another thing to note when it comes to LiveTV as Martin pointed out,
When the PCH starts playing media, it fills its buffer and if there isn't enough to fill the buffer by the time it catches up with realtime it stops playback. He found a 20 second delay seems to work, I guess we need to find out how big the buffer really is.

Just got my unit so I'm up for testing too. I've been pleased with my MVP / GBPVR for years but it was time for a settop box with more power. Video playback looks awesome. GBPVR on this box would be tha cat's meow (and yes, I really am that old).

I'll have a pre-release available for some people to test in the next few days. Live TV isnt working at this stage, but you can view all the GBPVR screens, schedule recordings, playback recordings etc, including native playback support for everything the Popcorn hour supports. (transport streams, AVIs, MPG, MP4 etc...high def, low def, any def)

For those that want to try the Popcorn Hour client, I've attached a first release. Its early days, but still quite usable.

You can do pretty much everything except view live tv. ie, see all the screens, schedule recordings, playback recordings, play music and video files. All playback is done using the native playback features of the PCH device, so all sorts of formats are supported .mpg/.avi/.ts/.mkv/etc in low def, high def, any def etc.

I've been trying it with our high definition H.264 DVB-T channels and it looks awesome.

I'll have it integrated with the next GB-PVR release so that you dont have run anything manually, but for now you need to do two things to get it going.

1) First is apply the patched version of PVRX2.exe (on top of your existing 1.1.5 install). You need to run an instance of it with the "-pch" command line parameter.
2) Second is a standalone web server and SSDP server. You need to be running an instance of this. Extract this to a directory outside of the GB-PVR directory and run PCHServe.exe.

Now when you click the 'Media Source' button on the PCH menu you should get a GB-PVR option.

It's amazing how many solutions you can find with the search function and a willingness to "play" with it. I have been around for a while, just being quiet. Thanks for all your hard work. I've really enjoyed the software and have watched it grow. Kudos.

Sub,

Does this patched version of PVRX2 only work with v1.1.5 of GBPVR? I'm using v1.0.16 and I get an error when connecting to the server. I just renamed the old PVRX2.exe and put this on in the directory.

Yes, it needs to be applied to a 1.1.5 release of GB-PVR.

Just caught up with this development (bit slow, I know). Sounds a terrific mvp replacement. Exciting news to hear that GBPVR is mostly working with it.

Keep the news coming and thanks for the hard work going in.

Im all new here, and i have the EVA8000 and a POPCornhouer unit.
so in in the process of trying this gbpvr think.
looks real good..

i have DL the 1.5.
and don this also:
1) First is apply the patched version of PVRX2.exe. You need to run an instance of it with the "-pch" command line parameter.
2) Second is a standalone web server and SSDP server. You need to be running an instance of this. Extract this to a directory outside of the GB-PVR directory and run PCHServe.exe.

It works, i can see it on the pop, and i can play and so on.
But on the Win2003 server i have the gbpvr running on i get an error from the PHC Controller (PVRX2.exe -pch)

here is the error:

Maybe you can use that information..
Thanks a lot...

A Qustion, you know after i run the config, it will start a tray icon. can i just close thet down, or dos it need to run?

And, do you want bugs, and things in this tread in the forum for the PCH relatet things ??
