Thanks for solving my HIP problems. Nothing more annoying than an app that works 95% of the time... WAF = 0.

cool, glad you got it going....Smile

btw, here's a new .dll to make hip repeat rates work...seems they weren't before..
[adjust in preferences/alt input/device config]

just replace same file in hip dir...
now repeat rates will be adjustable to your liking..Wink

Net2hipsend has solved most of my channel changing problems. I'm using a Pace DC50x DTA (Comcast). My highest numerical channel is 82, so no triple digits required. HIP missed maybe 1/10 channel changes, net2hipsend is maybe 1/25.

I noticed that all of my single digit channel changes (2-9) worked flawlessly. I am using "0 padding" in my configuration.

The only issues were with double digit channels. The failures were when the first digit was missed, ie "36" was changed to "6".

Anyway, my idea is to go triple digits, with zero padding. So far, with the last couple of days of recording, this has worked.

But generally, this IR blaster method seems totally lame. Can't we hook a cable from the MCE beanbag to the cable box...?? (the DC50x has an external IR receiver jack)

Just venting here, I'm a ChemE, not an EE, so I'd have no idea how to do this... .

hmm,i wouldn't try hooking direct unless you have a box you can spare, cuz the power required to blast out is much more than the power generated from a ir sensor...
[possibly overloading stb input]

shouldn't need padding, and most users have better results without any at all..
but i can see how the extra digit could 'wake' the hardware and make it more responsive..
but it should work either way...max 4 digits tho...

those new stb boxes have weird remote protocols, so most blasters are having problems with them...sure direct would have been nice to have, but use a normal remote protocol and it works perfectly.... it seems they wanted to avoid ease of changing for some reason..
[both the new ATSC gov. tuners and new basic cable tuner boxes]

might also want to try relearning codes with as short a burst as possible...
[but save any you have that work already just in case]

net2hipsend hasn't been sending 0 lately and I have missed a lot of shows on 460 and 404 because of this. Only the numbers 46 or 44 show up. I am able to get the channel to change when I go to livetv so the IR emitter placement shouldn't be the cause. It seems there is some type of conflict when I have recordings setup and it tries to send the digits to net2hipsend.exe. I am using port 8080 since I can't get it to work with 8084 or 8086. What should be my first troubleshooting step?

do you have the latest version? i made a few changes to make it faster not too long ago..
[now it just gets size of html page, which is enough to trigger ch. change]

using any delay? may want to add just a bit to it...like maybe 100ms if using none..

hmm, were they simultaneous recordings that failed? [2 ch changes coming about same time, maybe interfering with eachother?]
i only have one source so haven't tested multiple blastings much..

I am trying to change channels on an STB (Tivax) through the serial interface.
I can change channels from HyperTerminal and I tried to set up HIP to send the command to HyperTerminal.
I have set up net2hipsend and can get the WebServer page.
Sending keys to HIP causes a beep, but doesn't get to the hyperterm application.
How do I set up HIP to simply pass-through the keys without any IR key definitions.
PS: HIP does start hyperterm and logs on to the serial port properly, but no keys are sent.
Would really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

i believe there's a plugin to directly send chars to serial port...look on HIP website for the plugins... there are a couple of COM plugins..
they should enable you to transmit straight to com ports without hyperterm..

Thanks for the tip.
I managed to get commands from com-controller to change channels on my TIVAX STB.

It's a start. Now, I need to get GBPVR to talk to com-controller...Do you know of any .exe application that would pass the channel number? Is haupblast useable?

i thin you can use the nethipsend to send cmds from gbpvr to hip, then setup keys in hip to talk to com controller to change the channels...
with com controller setup in hip, it becomes just another blaster...Smile
[setup numbers to blast in hip like a regular blaster (0-9), but with whattever the com controller needs as input instead.. ]
does com controller take post code messages as input? or just regular keystrokes?

yea, check com controller help file "Interfacing with Hip and DMX Listener"
cmds would look soomething like: {1,[ID1],[ID2]}
[ID1] is the Command to Send
[ID2] is the User defined code
