Yes...I have those two....but you mention one on the wiki and I am not seeing anything there.....I assume you mean the MB4 wiki page.....correct?

When I go into options, collections has the tag @optionvalue and when I right arrow I get

System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.

gEd, I looked into this and can't duplicate it. Could you go into the collections and set one as default with the right click, and see if it solves this.

well it seems to have fixed itself. @optionvalue now appears as system and I can scroll through collections.
Off on vacation for a week, will play some more when I get back.

Patches fixed the display issue on the PCH.

Now my next problem is I can't seem to get it to switch to a different collection. I have System looking at the root of my music store. I have a collection or Standard Albums and one for Compilations. I ran the scan and it cataloged all 8k+ songs, then went through again and counted 8k+ songs then it got hung scanning the compilations....it would say adding 10, 20 50, 80.....then loop back again and again. So I killed the service.

When in MBL4 and I select to switch to Standard Album Collection nothing changes....it still shows the Default (system). So I change the Default to be the Standard Album and restarted the service.....same thing....it says it is on the Standard Album but it isn't since I can see the artists and titles from albums in my Compilation collection.

Attached are the logs....I started the NPVR Service, accessed MBL4 from the PCH....Artist are showing that are not in the Default collection (standard album). Verified on the Options screen that the Collection being used was the Standard Album.

I put a copy of my .db3 file on my FTP server in your folder so you can grab that if you like.

That could be the source of your problems there are multiple passes when you are doing collections and then one to get playlists You also can't just kill the scan, because it is transaction based and no end transaction will be issued so the database state will definitely be bad.

I still thinking about the the need to separate compilations when MB4 will do it for you. It seems like a lot of work for little gain. I am not saying its wrong, I am also trying to understand why Jaggy is doing this. I will upload the new version shortly and you might want to comment on it. You can keep the collections but then see how well system works with the new options.

MB4 is independent from the service, so you don't have to worry about stopping NRecord.

Because of the aborted scan I don't think it would be as valuable as a db after a full scan.

Further to the discussions in this thread, I have uploaded a new version of MB4 with new View Options which give your choice of

- either show All Artists or Filter Artist to not list artists in compilations in the Artist View
- either show Compilations only or All Albums in the Album Via

I also optimized text searching via the remote a little, to save a few keystrokes. Navigating by text is an important part of the MB4 design.

These are currently not saved as I try and understand how this will be used.

I read the wiki and it seems while you can "play all" from an album, or artist, can you "play all" MP3s in a particular directory AND sub-directories? Or would the way to do this simply be to "add all" to a Jukebox compilation?

k, yes if you don't use artist/album style for saving your files, collections are directory based and playing a collection randomly is possible. In the future the database will be enhanced so the it's not entirely random, I expect to prioritize songs based on their last play. You can also create an M3U playlist of a folder and shuffle that. If you don't have an organized music collection, this all might be more trouble then its worth.
