I am another one who only uses the system for live and recorded TV. The only other oddly formatted files I come across are when something goes wrong and I have to grab an episode from the interweb, which is rare nowadays.

And I could've written the above myself so same goes for me.
Popcorns are working well but also happy with my MVPs still going strong in a couple of rooms too.

I suspect that (at least on the HDMI port) it will automatically switch to PCM for any types that the AVR does not report as capable in the EDID.

Late to this party but I think this would make a great "official" client for NextPVR. HD audio bitstreaming would be awesome but not necessary IMO. As long as it can play BD M2TS, NPVR recordings and Youtube videos, I would be happy.

How's it going with this, Martin? I am watching your work as well as the Ceton and Sage/Google news very closely...

I get it to connect but I need to rebuild my cross-compiler to go further, I am doing that this weekend. 2.3.6 and the YouTube plugin got in the way a bit, am I am also toying around with my CuBox extender design. It's a bit hard to get motivated for the MVP when it does offer me anything more than the challenge of doing it, its more work than fun. Sounds like you might wait anyway, and I sense that SageTV users are generally waiting, which doesn't help get me motivated knowing that there may not be many new adopters of a new platform. I wish that the MVP-HD supported DVD ISO.

Sorry to hear that. I am not really expecting anything from Sage (but I'm still watching since Narflex has left little "teases") so I wouldn't wait if there was something else available now. For me, it would have to support DVD folder structure and DTS-HD passthrough to be sufficient.

But I am not sure that the MVP-HD even supports seamless VIDEO_TS structure playback or HD pass through, that why I have been writing this is not necessarily an upgrade from the A110. You really should email Hauppauge support.

Is this MVP-HD really new? My distributor shows 0 stock, 0 qty on order, no eta, and the note "Special Order Product, Call for Availabilty" which basically means "you can't even order this, so don't bother". This is typical of either a really new product, or a product being discontinued. The price is pretty good at $83.25, but it doesn't help much if there are none.

(edit: I see Newegg does have them for $79, but 7 out of 9 reviewers say they got multiple DOA units and gave up... yikes!)

No it is not new or even a new-generation extenders, but Hauppauge has stock and I am sure they still will sell it to distributor. I had a DOA unit too and it's really hard to get excited about it.

It's also hard to get excited about a device you have to buy second-hand that they are no longer producing or supporting (my feelings about the Popcorn Hour devices).

I have submitted my questions to Hauppauge support so we'll see what they say.

by the way Martin, did you ever make any progress on that Samsung SmartHub app you were pondering?
