Quote:rather than working on Trans2MVP, would it be possible to use Hauppauge's transcoding DLLs?
Thats what Trans2MVP does. Its only a small wrapper for the Hauppauge transcoding components. The only significant different is the choice of decoder used for decoding the video. I just rely on the system default one, they have hard-coded divx to use the divx decoder installed with the MVP software.

I dont have access to their code, so I cant be sure exactly what they're doing or how they're using these components, but as far as I can tell I'm doing most of the same stuff.

sub Wrote:You would be surprised just how small the trans2mvp program is. It's all of about 25 lines of code. The program itself is fine. The problem that some people get lies in the combination and versions of filters installed on your machine. Hauppauge get away with it because their software is hardcoded to use specific filters etc.

Well unfortunately, it only takes 1 line (or less) to crash. :p I have written many thousands of lines of code in several languages - trust me - I have GREAT respect and appreciation for what you are doing!

Is there any chance you could provide some guidance, or have the program issue messages that we can use to adjust our configurations - instead of just crashing? Smile

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Post your Trans2MVP.exe-native.log file and I'll see what we can do.

OMG, could it be as simple as setting the system default to the MVP one? How do I do that??????? Big Grin

What is the log output when you use the following replacement?

Thanks for the quick response. Will update this post when done. Got another server issue in the meantime - bad timing ... hang tight ...

Arrrggg! I didn't want to mentio it before, but I have not yet mastered switching between Hauppage MVP software and gbpvr! Seems to take multiple retries. Sorry, my fault. Just being honest about what is taking me so long. I'm really eager to try out the new module ...

There is several ways you can do it. One approach is:

1) When you have the Hauppauge MVP screen on your TV, click Start -> Programs -> Hauppauge MVP -> Stop
2) Click Start -> Programs -> GB-PVR -> GB-PVR MVP Server. GB-PVR should now appear on your TV.

Follow the steps exactly. Dont turn of the power on the MVP or any other steps not listed here.

Ok, that procedure worked (as if you didn't know) ...

So, here is the log info:

21:22:05.093 INFO Log started
21:22:05.093 VERBOSE Will try to use ffdshow...
21:22:05.093 INFO TRANSCODING: F:\TOBEMO~1\_MAKIN~1.AVI
21:22:05.093 INFO TARGET: F:\GBPVR Recordings\MVP000DFE00619A.mpg
21:22:05.562 VERBOSE AVI file type.
21:22:05.562 VERBOSE @1
21:22:05.578 VERBOSE @2

I attached a screen image of the Microsoft generated error message also.

Hope this helps. Sorry for the long delay - especially since you have been so responsive!

What happens if you disable the "Use ffdshow with transcode" setting and repeat?

After I made the change, I clicked on "OK" and then closed the server and started a new instance.

Seems like the same thing.

22:44:55.140 INFO Log started
22:44:55.140 VERBOSE Will try to use ffdshow...

22:44:55.531 VERBOSE AVI file type.
22:44:55.531 VERBOSE @1
22:44:55.546 VERBOSE @2

Anyways, I've got to go out of town for the weekend. I don't want to take more of your time away from other things. There is probably something in my S/W configuration that is wrong. Perhaps some time for reflection will give us some fresh ideas.

Thanks again for your help. I've got to sign off and get to bed!
