Martin,

I experienced that too some time ago, so I checked.
My recording folder is E:\Recordings and the whole E drive is shared. But when I start playing a recording-in-progress (in x-newa) after for example 1 minute, it stops playing after (that) 1 minute (plus some seconds). Sometimes it does play a bit longer and I see the counter on the right (total time of the recording) progressing, but it stops before the end of the recording.
I get the impression that the extra time seems to be more when I wait longer before starting the playback.
Or maybe I didn't understand. Where do I have to start playing the file? From the "Dashboard" or somewhere else?

The recordings folder is shared. I presume that you mean to play the in progress recording as a Video. I have always found navigating "Videos" in NextPVR very slow and it would be easier to drop back to the XBMC video menu which I find much easier to navigate.

Nope, I meant right from recordings. If you record to \\ip\sharename x-newa should just work, unless there is a password. If it is a drive letter networked or local, or has a password, use xbmc's path substitution in advancedsetting.xml http://kodi.wiki/view/Advancedsettings.x...bstitution to substitute what xbmc thinks it should be, from what NextPVR sends.

Sorry Martin but I am missing something!! I am running the X-NEWA web client under OpenELEC which is extremely reliable apart from the very occasional problem when I play in progress recordings.

The server records to drive d: which is shared on the network and accessible in XBMC video menu.

I am using the default "Native" streaming. Should I be using "Time Shifting" or other streaming.

What I don't know is where XBMC is currently looking for the recordings so cannot setup "substitution"! I thought default access was via the NextPVR http server which I understand is the problem XBMC has with in progress recordings.

Chris,

If your shared folder doesn't have a password, this should work (you don't need the path substitution):
In NextPVR, settings, Recording, Recording directories, you should edit the existing directory. I think you have "D:\somefolder", but you should select "Network\\computernaam\foldersharename".
And the recordings folder should be shared with "everybody".

Those are only for Live TV playback

X-NEWA tries to play the file by the filename passed by NextPVR and if can't be found then it falls back to http

If the whole D:\ is shared

Code:
<pathsubstitution>
  <substitute>
    <from>D:\</from>
    <to>smb://ip/sharename/</to>
  </substitute>
</pathsubstitution>

Thanks to both I now understand!!! I am now recording to the networked D: drive instead of the local D: drive.

Ok, given the choice and depending on recording volume for performance reasons I would record to a local drive that is shared instead of a networked drive but both will work.

On the server the network drive D: which NextPVR writes to is the same local drive D:. Is the Windows server smart enough to work out that \\NPVRserver\D is local? If not I can see your point about performance issues and the advantage of writing to local drive D: then adding the drive substitution in XBMC.
