Does the problem happen when you change channel resolutions. If so does changing to this help

<StopOnChannelChange>true</StopOnChannelChange>

mvalevrand: Not sure how I would know if channel resolutions have changed. When I look in the logs it seemed the resolutions was always set at 1920x1080. Can you point me in the right direction?

If you can't tell visually set the STB to output fixed 720p. I made my life easier. I was wrong anyway, the recording graph was changing but the decoder graph is staying the same.

Ah. Does the decoder graph "detect" the resolution or does npvr define that for the decoder? I will try setting the decoder box to 720p fixed and see what happens. Hopefully that won't be the final solution as I had planned to get a new 1080p tv sometime in the next few months. Thanks

Kind of both, the recording graph reads the res. and then NextPVR adjusts the bandwidth. What I found is that the decoder locked into the channel res. before the STB changed channels.

Makes sense. My cogeco (canad) boxes are kinda slow on the channel change since the change to switched digital video. On occasion it can take 7-10 seconds for the new channel to show. When this happens the cogeco box displays a "please wait, the channel will be available shortly" message. This message is not sent at 720p I'm sure. Could be causing some confusion.

So, I reset both boxes to fixed 720p. This done by (the only available way) setting the tv capability setting to 702p & 480i only. Set the cablebox audio to passthrough.

Result is slightly better channel changes without any lockup. Still a long delay occasionally (I'm suspicious this is the cable box delay). LiveTV play is good with the occasional tick or glitch (seems audio based) but no breakdown of play.

Interestingly, when using picture in picture the result is the same for both captures although swapping back and forth is really smooth now. Also, if it should happen that both the main picture and the P in P picture are tuned to the same channel, npvr plays the same buffer file in both even though both tuner cards are capturing. I tested this by turning off one cable box and both pictures continued to play. Not a big deal, cause I'm prolly the only crazy nut that would look at that!

I'm gonna try some different decoders and see if anything improves.

Thanks again.

Well. Everything was working smoothly until a scheduled recording started while I was watching livetv then the stuttering started again in both the livetv and the recording. Restarted recording service and it corrected.

Here's the logs, however they are from after I restarted the recording service. Helpful?

The channel change issue has resurfaced as well. I am at a loss as to what else to try.
