Not too far off point, I hope, but this is the second patch for NShared.dll since the NextPVR 170820 release. May I assume that patches to the same dll since release are cumulative?

Actually its the fourth and yes normally they are accumulative so usually the latest should be the best - unless something else breaks  as in my case the NPVRTSReader4 where I have had to go back to the version that is now in the installer. Then of cause there may be dependency issues,
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives

My system has been behaving for the last few days but again this morning I have the issue. Computer awake at 06:30, try a "Hibernate" but windows advises NPVR is recording, tray icon says same but in fact it's not as last recording finished at 21:20.
I have been following this thread and so far have not applied the patch as I see some differences in other peoples issues to my own (I think). Happy to do so but would like confirmation first that the patch does in fact address my issue. In particular, my EPG update happens around 07:00 am so never when this issue has arisen. Screenshots attached as well as logs before and after a recording service restart which clears the "still recording" indication.

While post https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post517448 shows exactly the same problem you are having, it could also have been caused because an EPG update was done during a recording. I'd definitely apply the patch since a fix is needed and if it is still broken logs are still needed. Martin

Thanks for that. I'll apply the patch and let you know. Just to be clear, my EPG update is 07:00 am and there is no recording taking place at the time. This is why I thought it might be a slightly different issue and posted my logs each time (apart from 1). Thanks again - always appreciate the help

FWIW I've had no recurrence of this problem since installing the patch (whatever day I said I did upthread), and my problem definitely had absolutely nothing to do with EPG updates

So far so good. But, is there any chance this new .DLL could have broken my 2 XNEWA clients that now can't connect? (Can't get logs at the moment and will start a new thread if it's a new issue)

sub Wrote:Do you guys all have your machine going to sleep at times? I've experienced the occasional problem with recordings remaining in the Device Status display, even though the recording has finished (disappears from Pending Recordings, .ts file is unlocked for editing, .xml file created). I leave my PC on 24/7 because a) I may want to record at any time, b) I also use it for logging data from a weather station. So the NPVR recording service and the Device Status icon remain running all the time and the PC never goes to sleep. It's not a problem, except that the black "n" icon in the system tray remains red until I restart the service, so the PC looks as if it is permanently recording. It happened when I just had one tuner set up and it's happened again when I've got two tuners, so that probably isn't a factor. Like many other people, the icon and status applet works perfectly most of the time - it's very rare that it goes wrong. Is there any evidence you need or any debugging that you'd like turning on? Both times it's occurred have been, there has been no EPG update scheduled. PC configuration is as in the sig. I'm using 4.0.4 (170820). I've applied the patch (stop recording service, copy nshared.dll to c:\program files (x86)\NPVR, start recording service) so I'll see whether the problem occurs again.
