Unfortunately NextPVR crashed on you which broke webclient.log

2019-02-28 16:17:23.377 [DEBUG][42] Unexpected client control error: System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException: Failed to read from an IPC Port: The pipe has been ended.

and you would have needed to upload kodi.old.log for the session.

Regarding edl support it Kodi check the advancedsettings for some tweak, total out of my control.

And don't forget when you are talking about x-newa and kodi remember that there is more to it than that, it could be Android implementation on your SonyTV.

BrettB Wrote:1st question: Are you seeing this behavior with all recordings or only some of them.
I must admit I only tested this one; I will try a few others but will only try to log this one.

BrettB Wrote:I'm guessing it's related to a "bad" timeline
I'[ve heard that expression a wee bit now over the years, what does it actually mean (what are the obvious tells) and more importantly how do you (try) to make sure it doesn't happen?

BrettB Wrote:1st observation: I'm not finding the kodi debug log file. You need to be sure to enable debugging in kodi and then also include the kodi.log file.
Not sure what you mean, I linked http://paste.kodi.tv/udufegisur above (Kodi log gets uploaded by an add-in (automatically) for others to view, you then scan a QR code to get the link).

BrettB Wrote:2nd observation: I see a couple of manual skip attempts by pressing the right arrow button. ...SNIP ....In this case, I'm thinking that it worked OK because both the "After skipping position" and the next "ClientSwipe" are showing the desired new position of 486.
OK, but I am not sure about that client swipe thingy; I never swiped (it's a remote not a touch screen, I assume this is just an expression used in the log for the same thing? This being the case, why is it different from KeyPress Direction?

BrettB Wrote:I'm guessing this one didn't work because the "After skipping position" is showing as 550 as desired, but the "ClientSwipe" position is back at the 491.
Yeah this might be the one where it jumps back and stays; normally it jumps back then goes forwards; sometines it goes back and stays. Odd.Hopefully examples can be seen in these four very short vids I shot of the TV (Old Skool):

Oh; yeah it did jump out a couple of times (first ever), but I thought I'd gone back in. Will redo it.

mvallevand Wrote:and you would have needed to upload kodi.old.log for the session.
OK

mvallevand Wrote:Regarding edl support it Kodi check the advancedsettings for some tweak, total out of my control.

From https://kodi.wiki/view/Advancedsettings.xml#.3Cedl.3E however looking at these I am not sure that making any of these adjustments would actually help here TBH.

Code:
<edl>
[B]<!-- if true, commercial breaks will be merged according to the remaining options. -->[/B]
  <mergeshortcommbreaks>false</mergeshortcommbreaks>
[B]  <!-- Commercial breaks won't be merged if the total length of the commercial break would be greater than this (seconds) -->[/B]
  <maxcommbreaklength>250</maxcommbreaklength>
[B]  <!-- After merging, commercial breaks shorter than this will be removed (seconds) -->[/B]
  <mincommbreaklength>90</mincommbreaklength>
[B]  <!-- Commercial breaks that are further apart than this won't be merged (seconds) -->[/B]
  <maxcommbreakgap>120</maxcommbreakgap>
[B]  <!-- How long to wait before automatically skipping when the start of a commercial break reached (seconds) -->[/B]
  <commbreakautowait>0</commbreakautowait>
[B]  <!-- How long to rewind after automatically skipping to the end of the commercial break (seconds) -->[/B]
  <commbreakautowind>0</commbreakautowind>
</edl>

Looking at the Kodi forum, there's others (I don't expect you to look!) with what appear similar issues and it just doesn't seem that important to KODI unfortunately.

mvallevand Wrote:And don't forget when you are talking about x-newa and kodi remember that there is more to it than that, it could be Android implementation on your SonyTV. Martin
True; the TV is awaiting an update (US has it already) of the Android implementation for that model. So far I am less than impressed with the whole Sony Android/Kodi thing, so adding XNEWA on top might be a step too far, or was I expecting too much on top of PCH (which had no such intermediaries)?

Cheers, k.

Will try a new run with logs a wee bit later.

http://paste.kodi.tv/kogihexove

http://paste.kodi.tv/uyoyogutiq

Couple of runs on separate shows as promsied, which shows the funny skip forard jump back (see vid links above); one one I used the skip forward button and the other I used skip forward and also tried the right key on the central part of the remote (which seems to do the same thing, should I only use the skip key?)

As before the show goes forwrad and seems to jump back. When I used the skip key (playback controls at bottom of the remote) it seemed to remember to skip the ad (albeit a wee bit late).

Cheers,

k.

Arrghh, as always, you are correct, thank you Martin, I was missing a </ in the </from> field; :o

In another thread you wrote:
mvallevand Wrote:Running on linux based box the from needs slashes not back slashes. Martin

Now I have totally confused myself again - is an Android TV such a Linux based box?

A backslash being \
So Linux Boxes uses /

i.e should I use A or B?

A=BACKSLASH=NON-LINUX
Code:
    <substitute>
        <from>E:[B]\[/B]Storage[B]\[/B]HDCamVideos[B]\[/B]</from>
        <to>smb://XXX:YYY@192.168.1.10/HDCamVideos/</to>
        </substitute>

OR

B = SLASH = LINUX FORMAT
Code:
    <substitute>
        <from>E:[B]/[/B]Storage[B]/[/B]HDCamVideos[B]/[/B]</from>
        <to>smb://XXX:YYY@192.168.1.10/HDCamVideos/</to>
        </substitute>

If the answer "it depends", then when should I use A and when B?

If a Sony TV or RPi2 run Android and Librelec are both Linux Boxes i.e. B?
If I have KODI on Windows I assume is A?

Cheers

k.

I was looking at the example here https://github.com/andbad/advancedsettin...ttings.xml which had backslashes.

[EDIT] Been there before ... oops ... so I know (again) what it should be for the Pi ... I assume the Andoid TV, with Android being Linux based is the same (forward slashes)?

Android is a version of Linux --- I would expect it to require forward slashes.

Cheers Graham, just realised the top of the Kodi log says pretty much that, but good to be confirmed. Am seeing the skip (but will post a log for sometimes odd behaviour).

Hi Martin

OK here's a run where I fixed all the advancedsettings snafus - I even saw KODI say commercial skipped so I think the advancedsettings works; it did actually skip the second ad when I let it run this time but I did still see that funny skip forward then a small jump back of the green/grey played bar on the timeline, especially when I used the remotes right key rather than skip (are they the same?) although both seemed to skip.

http://paste.kodi.tv/votisiwewu

Anything odd to you there or is this pretty OK do you think?

Skip and arrows are not the same in NextPVR. For the small step back key (quote on keyboard, I don't know if you map this), I don't bother going to NextPVR, it is supposed to go back 7 seconds and after this OSD might take time to catch up.

At one point it did look Kodi had troubles seeking around the 892 point of the file, but it is not x-newa related.
