No, recordings wouldn't be playable on the MVP.

If you use a modded XBOX I beleave it would be able to view it with the XBMP software. I am still searching for STB that would also work. HDTV would be saved as MPEG4 or a Divx/Xvid format and this is the reason the MVP will not work; it only support MPEG2 video and sound.

No, most HDTV is just MPEG2, but the MVP wouldnt handle the resolution or the audio format.

Play@TV looks like one device, there are others but this one runs at a price a little over an MVP.

The advantage with the MVP is you get the full menus etc of GB-PVR. This wont be the case with any other device.

Yes, that is a point that needs to be stressed, only the MVP is support by GBPVR with full menus. Any other device will need to use it own software.

I have noticed most of the HDTV cards record in MPEG4 formats, the OTA stream is in MPEG 2, but does not the ATI and Fusion cards save the records in an MPEG4 format?
....
Ok, I was wrong, they can convert the recordings to an MPEG4 format but they record the raw stream to the hard drive. Thanks for clarifying that. Then this will add to the complexity of finding a STB device to playback to recording. It would have to specify HD MPEG2 support.

Hey,
I have a Fusion 3 gold I would be happy to let Sub mess with remotely. Send me a PM if you are still in the need. It has ATSC and QAM capabilities.

Thanks Mike, the offer is much appreciated. PM sent.

I've also got one other user that has a Fusion3 device on its way, that has kindly offered access, but I'd also appreciate access to your machine also as using two machine can give me a little more flexibility in my testing.
