my capture devices are in my signature. I am getting 5 days of epg data from zap2it. I am in the USA.

What is gbpvr doing differently in timeshift mode as opposed to record mode and playing the file while recording?? Whatever it is must be related to the hicup problem or am I thinking too simplistically?

How many channels?

Pretty much nothing. The only thing it does differently is checking the datetime of the gbpvr.mdb every 30 seconds. If it has changed since it was last checked, then it loads up some data and checks some stuff, but given the logs messages I'm seeing, the file datetime hasnt changed, so this isnt happening. So effectively its only checking the date time of a file every 30 seconds.

Well it must be this activity that is doing it as you have probably already figured out. I guess its just not really obvious as to why this activity would cause this problem.

It would be easier to track down if I was seeing the problem here, but I'm not. I dont see this hiccup.

I have about 100 channels, and 14 days of epg. I have always had the hicup problem every 30 since I started using GB-PVR several months ago. It is caused by the GB-PVR recording service spiking in CPU usage every 30 seconds.

What are people's file size for gbpvr.mdb? It would be interesting if they were all very large.

For laughs, try opening and closing the CP to shrink it, or user compact and reapir using Access if you have it. Then see how it does.

Mine is usually <100Mb on avg. I think <80mb when I compact it.

Confirmed here as well, 2 different PC's and both have the 30 second hiccup in timeshift mode.
system 1 - PVR-250 and HVR-1600

system 2 - PVR-150 and HVR-1600
