Ton Wrote:Hey Ryno,

I've had a quick look, and I think it's either one of two things:

1. A bug in my code
2. A problem with the decimal place setting

For 1., I have included a "debug" version of MVPRecoder, and I would like to ask you to run it, and report back what it says (it should have an extra line starting with: "Found from analyze:.."). I would be interested in what it says on that line.

For 2., could you please try (after 1.) to change your Windows regional settings to "us-style" ("." as decimal seperation, "," for thousends seperation) and run the tool again, or report back to me if that's what you currently have.

Once you get back to me, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to fix the issue.

Regards,

Hi Ton!

It looks like the regional setting did the trick. When i changed it to US, the transcoding started like it should.

It's still problem with subtitles i dvdConfused though. On the first dvd i tried, mvprecoder didn't find the right sub. Looks like there's something wrong with the authoring of the dvd..?

On the second dvd the transcoding started and it looks like mvprecoder finds the right sub, but it don't show in the transcoded mpg.

Avi works perfect and thats a hugh improvement. It's quit easy to "burn" in subs in them...

Check the log!

Hej Ryno,

Well, on DVD 1 it looks like it may need a specific title to start playing the movie.... I'll add an option to allow you to specify the title to mencoder (the only problem I've ever found with mencoder is this one, but 90% of movies work okay with the default setting).

For DVD 2, I'll have a look at the code. It looks like I've got a little bug there somewhere (could be that: "--- subtitle ( sid ): 2 language: unknown" throws me off). I'll have a look at the code. For this one, could you post a (zipped) copy of the INF-files for this DVD? I'll see if I can "trick" the rest of the DVD-files and allow me to test the code.

Expect an update in a couple of days that should fix these issues...

Hey ryno,

I updated my little program...

Here's what changed:

- I have added a "-title" command-line switch (to specify wich title on the DVD should start playing)
- I have found (and fixed) a small bug in the selection of the subtitles
- I now force all string conversion to numbers to use US-style number formatting

I hope this fixes your problems....

Best regards,

Hi Ton!

I haven't had time to test all options yet but the recoding starts now even with my national settings set to Swedish.

One thing thou, i have recoded a couple of aviConfused and the top and bottom borders are gone... The AR look a little bit funny to, only full screen on my 4:3 tele.

When i recoded the same avi with the old version, the borders are back again.

Thanks for your effort! //R

Hi Ryno,

I'll have a quick look (I think I may know what the problem is...).

I'll see what I can do and come back with an update...

Hi Ryno,

Thanks to a lazy sunday-morning, I have been able to provide a fix.... Looks like I went a little overboard when I did the conversion to US-style conversions....

This release uses the "old" code to calculate the FPS and the height/width conversion factor....

Have fun

Hi ton,

I have been playing around a little with different videos.

The problem with borders seems to remain but only with aviConfused..? When i recode dvd the borders are there but the AR looks wrong. When i recode aviConfused there are no top and bottom border.

The ability to choose title works fine but the subtitle choise seems to be harder depending on how the dvd has been authored. I for example got one dvd where in the first title all subs are marked "en" for english. But in the movie title the sub are marked by language. MVPRecode didn't found any language, I assume it looks in the first title?

Is it possible to make a choise on subs to by number like the titles?

I've been testing this utility because I really want to see it work. When I take avi files and convert them into mpg files Media Player Classic believes that a 40 minute file is now only 4 minutes long. Also, Media Player Classic shows the resulting mpg in 4:3 ratio, but when I load it on my MVPs then they show it widescreen at the top of the tv with black on the bottom half of the tv. Not sure what to test next. Btw, the avi files are in widescreen with black borders on top and bottom, so the conversion is doing something, just not sure what.

I just downloaded and tried the utility last night, starting with the latest 04 version posted a couple of messages back. I had the same results, converted avi's showed at the top of the screen on the mvp with the bottom half of the screen black..any ideas?
