The latest Comskip release will analyze the timeline and report any errors in the log file if verbose is set to at least 1

Look for "Audio PTS jumped" or "Video PTS jumped" in the log file

the new drivers wreaked havoc on my system.

XPsp2 / WinTV-PVR-150MCE.

I was having problems with my system after upgrading to 9612 - when I pressed FF while watching a show it restarts the show from the begining, but behaves ok after the first.

So upon Sub's recomendation I upgraded to the newest beta drivers from this forum. Thats when all hell broke loose - 90% recordings failed, and the 10% that did record - playing of videos froze after playing for a couple minutes.

I then downloaded PVR150_22_23257 from Hauppauge website and that fixed both problems.

NEW NOTE:
The problem with failed recordings have come back - the few that did record is garbage "it looks like black snow"

I am going to give the new 2.0.43.24073 drivers that sean mentions above.....

I am wondering if this addressed item will improve my 3 recordings at once issue....I have about a 50% sucess rate with 3 at a time right now....
* Fixed issue which yielded no audio and/or video problems on some systems. Problem was rare but nevertheless possible.

Sub,

My setup never showed a timeline problem untill I reinstalled the machine recently. In the reinstall I switched from the de 2.035.23258 to the ones you propose and got about 80% broken timelines. the first break was almost repeatable after 23 minutes. I switched back to the 2.035.23258 drivers without success.

I now installed the 2.034.24054 again with the registry modifications and the first 7 recordings seem all OK (5 of more than 1 hour). The only real difference between both installs is a switch from W2003 to XP.

My motherboard is an Nforce2.

sub Wrote:If you're having timestamp issues, I have some new drivers you can try. These drivers are pre-release drivers, so have only been lightly tested, but initial feedback has been positive.

You can download these drivers from http://www.gbpvr.com/drivers/060223-Amit...elease.zip

After installing the drivers, you'll need to add the following registry settings:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcwPP2\DriverData
"HcwTimeStampIssue1"=dword:00000001
"HcwTimeStampIssue2"=dword:00000000

YOU NEED TO REBOOT AFTER SETTING THOSE REGISTRY SETTINGS

I would appreciate if anyone that does try them, could they also post a note to let me know how they get on.

Thanks Hauppauge for looking into this, and thanks to groover_km for being the guinea pig.

sub...can you check with your hauppage connections and see if there is anything in this newer release that would cause the timeline issue to reappear? Looking at the release notes it indicates that the original ones you posted addressed the issue....this is the next release in the chain of updates.

Hauppauge have indicated this same logic (via these registry setting) is available in the 2.0.43.24054 drivers, so it should still be functioning.

That is what I figured....I have made like 6 recordings with these drivers and have not encountered the timeline issue....and thus far I have not had an issue with recording 3 things at the same time.

Overall picture quality seems to be improved as well.

Gotta say, I didn't even know what this timesync problem was until I bought a new 150 for my box, then a whole night's programming would having this evil tearing and drop outs. Sometimes it would crash out altogether. Couldn't post process worth a d@mn.

Retime didn't even work. And then I thought 'time' !. I remembered something about timestamp.

I upgraded to the 54 drivers, made the reg edit, and had a whole good night of recording. Keeping my fingers crossed

sub,
I just upgraded to the 43.24054. (I have 2 PVR500MCE's.) I haven't done any long-term testing but now see something that I'm almost certain wasn't there before.
Watching LiveTV or recordings, if I hit any button (such as hitting Pause) that causes the picture part of the screen to be 'grayed' (darkened) for a while, I see flashes of white horizontal lines, apparently randomly around the screen. There a perhaps 1-5 flashes per second and each flash is a fraction of the screen width. Once the 'grayed' screen goes to normal, the white flashes disappear.
Any thoughts? Is the 'graying' a software function or is it hardware or firmware?

Thanks .... Bob
