Hello All,

I want to use GBPVR with a new Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150 card to record the local news, save it to the hard drive, and play it back later. I installed the Hauppauge card and all the Hauppauge drivers and software. Later, I installed GBPVR

So far I have not been able to get the GBPVR to scan for channels. I've tried setting everything I could figure-out in Config.exe and then running GBPRV.exe, but I can't seem to get any TV activity or channel scanning. Am I missing something, here.

Note: I had been having problems with the Hauppauge scheduling software, so I thought I'd try GBPVR. I suppose I could have a hardware problem, but hopefully, it's just that I don't know how to configure and run GBPVR.

Thanks for the help,
Randy

welcome!

did you follow the guid eon the wiki to set your card up?

the pvr-150 is one of the most popular cards here so you should be able to get it working ok.

If you are still having problems, zip and upload the contents of your log folder (under gbpvr) so someone can take a look for you.

There is no channel scanning done/needed for the PVR150 cards. You need to setup your capture, including the EPG Source. If you can see the list of channels in your capture source channel list, then live tv should work.

Thanks. I've read the guides and tried to follow as best I could, but it's still no-go. I do not know what to use in the use for the EPG Source, so I use "None". Should I be using the XMLTV Plugin? Other things are still confusing, such as if I need some sort of MUX. Do I need this to watch live TV? I have attached my Log folder.

Thanks,
Randy

The only list of channels in the Channel List are the ones I tried plugging in manually. As far as EPG Sourse, what should I use for that? It seems like I was able to get it to record a channel, but could get no visuals, other than it telling me it was recording channel 4.

Nearly every north amercian user here is using the Schedules Direct service.

What happens when you try to play the recording? Do you have an MPEG2 decoder installed? (ie, more decoder options listed than just 'system default' on playback tab of config app)

Thanks, Sub, for hanging in there with me. I can play the recording. The file is in my C:\Temp folder and VLC plays it just fine.

In the "Playback" tab of config app under MPEG-2 Playback:Video Decoder, the following items are listed: "System Default" and "MPEG Video Decoder". the Audio Decoder has the same thing.

You probably need to install a new audio/video decoder. Try these:

I just noticed that when I click on "Live TV" I am getting audio, but no video. I can use the down-arrow buttons to cycle through the channels, at least I think I am getting the audio from the channel. Would that confirm a missing video decoder?

Yes, its sounds like the video decoder is the problem.
