Yep, pretty much, though its better to do it from the System screen rather than the tray icon. (since you get logs)

The one key difference is that this run as the current user rather than the recording service account.

I just ran the automatic EPG update ands watched it process. It ran xmltv.exe successfully and then called xmltv-run.bat to run UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe. Below is the log for UltraXMLTV_Enhancer. It never seemed to get to PostUpdateEPG.bat.

To me, this seems to be an UltraXMLTV_Enhancer problem and I will pursue it in that forum. sub, do you agree with this assessment?

I'd have to see the GBPVRRecordingService.exe to tell you if UpdateEPG.bat completed.

If you caught UltraXMLTV_Enhancer stuck in memory after 19 hours, that's looking like a smoking gun to me. Since I'm running it too, and I'm seeing a similar problem, I'm about 99% convinced that's where the problem lies. If you do move this to that forum, drop a link here so others can find it if they search and find this thread.

The UpdateEPG.bat process hasnt completed in that log. The very last message on the EPG update thread in the logs is immediately prior to executing UpdateEPG.bat. It never gets as far as the log message that happens immediately after the UpdateEPG.bat completes.

That seems consistent with UltraXMLTV Enhancer hanging. Mine almost never hangs, so it's going to be hard for me to verify or to track down. I'm thinking about a process task killer to kill it from memory say an hour after it's supposed to have run. That should let mine run the next night. Of course, nailing down that it *is* UltraXMLTV Enhancer and fixing that would be better than a hack.

Since it seems to certainly be an UltraXMLTV_Enhancer issue I am going to pursue it in that forum. Here is the link to that thread:

hey guys, sorry to resurrect this old thread but I'm having a similar problem as the OP and I think it may be related to permissions that the recording service has or doesn't have.

I used to use Schedules Direct and the automatically scheduled updating always worked fine. I switched to XMLTV because it's free. I'm using yapi2xml, as suggested in the GBPVR wiki. It will update fine if I execute the update from the system menu from within PVRX2, but it always fails to update the EPG using the automatic updating.

I have attached my GBPVRRecordingService.exe logs. My EPG update it supposed to occur at 5:00 AM every night. Thanks for any help.
