I wish I knew from the beginning that you were using crop. Cropped 4x3 analog captures are going to look worse then on the MVP, letter boxed and pillar boxed once you start zooming them on a large screen TV.

Sorry Martin, I thought you knew because I already gave you earlier a 10Mb sample. There is no other way to play to play 16:9 content embedded in 4:3 PAL then to use crop. That fills exactly the 16:9 screen without adding or leaving out something.
Your 16/9 version has solved for me the zoom function. It now seems to work as intended and also the zoom parameter on the command-line functions. However when I now specify PAL on the command-line and set the NMT to 720 or 1080 I am getting a black screen. This worked correctly in the 11/9 version but there the zoom functions did not work. So one step forward and one back.
This was not meant to be ironic Martin because in the past I used to write computer programs in assembler (as a hobby) so I realize how difficult these things can be.

Good, we are a little closer. Could you do the following and zip and upload your telnet capture.

1. Ensure your PCH is set for 720p 50
2. Confirm GB-PVR is using 640 576 0 0
2. Unplug restart the PCH
3. Start telnet
4. With the NMT software running, start mvpmcx2 with these command line options

-m pal -o component --edtv --zoom crop

Thanks,

Martin

I have attached two logs. One with --edtv and one without. Settings as requested.
BTW: is there an easy way to capture the output of a telnet session in a windows command prompt? I tried with a redirect but that captures just a few lines and not the output I see in the dos box.

Do you have HDMI and component cables hooked up? That is not supported for many reasons. If so, could you try the test without HDMI connected and resend the captures. Both those logs fail and after a fresh boot that should not happen.

putty lets you capture the entire session to a putty.log file. Also to focus on one problem at a time can you try only with --edtv mode.

Thanks,

Martin

Putty works perfectly! Attached the logfile for --edtv. Good luck Wink

Without HDMI, that will work better but unfortunately, that doesn't log up to the connection to GBPVR and there is no error. Can you do anything in GBPVR or does it freeze at this point?

Sorry, but this is how far it got. No GBPVR Sad
I will try again later today without the --edtv parameter because that gave better results (i.e. working results) with your previous 11/9 version. At least you have a comparison.

O.k. repeated both tests. With the --edtv paramter I just get a black screen. Without the --edtv I get the GBPVR screen. At that moment I stopped the recording of putty. When I tried to play a recording, I just got a black screen. Pressing the power button switched of the PCH so obviously it was already out of the mvpmcx2 program.
What other tests can I do? Repeat the last one and continue with GBPVR running and crashing or do you first want to concentrate on the --edtv parameter?

I am not sure where to go from here, it is crashing earlier. Putty dieing is memory corruption that I have ever seen at that stage.

Maybe set telnet and instead of loading mvpmcx2 run

killall gaya
gaya

Then with the NMT browser try and play a dvd.iso file. It doesn't have to be real dvd I just need to get a putty capture of what your NMT is doing to setup for playing one.
