I installed a UHF arial and was going to try to use it with my GBPVR/WinXP/Popcornhour a-100 system. I have been using DVB-S for several years and it has been going great.

I re-read the Survival guide for MVPMCX2 and noticed the restrictions section included:
- does not support HE-AAC LATM audio use on HD TV in New Zealand and Norway

I have a Nova-T USB stick and have tried recording and playing a NZ Freeview DVB-T stream and can't get it to play even on my PC. I have done a bit of reading on this forum and it seems there have been several attempts to get this working a Popcorn Hour NMT, but I haven't found any conclusive posts that describe how to do it. I have a perfectly running system and before I go trying too many things and possibly breaking it for several days (Wife would not be happy) I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have recently purchased a Samsung 55 inch TV so that is the driving force behind wanting HD recordings.

Is there any way to get this working with a Popcorn Hour a-110? If not do the a-110 or a-200 Popcorn Hours support this, as I could buy one off e-bay?

Thanks in advance.
Andy.

It should work with mvpmcx2 but if you could post a 50MB sample somewhere I will check.

It's working with my A-100 & my m34a's both with GB-PVR & NextPVR for my DVB-T recordings which should be exactly the same as yours as we are both in NZ..... you just need a the latest (or later) version of mvmpcx2 installed.

There can be a problem if there are glitches in the stream though as reported in another thread started by me (which I must admit I haven't followed up on as I'm just tooooo busy & as no one else has reported a problem......)

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I have been busy at work and unable to spend much time on this.

I suspect that my DVB-T recordings are not even valid as i tried to play one of the TS files on a Windows 7 machine with K-Lite codec pack and its just a blank grey screen with no video or sound. I also tried VLC and get the same thing. I have uploaded a sample recording to my drop box (70 Mb) here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1592717/DVBT/man...7121500.ts

Tonight I will check that I have the latest mvpmcx2, and if you could let me know if that recording is any good I'd really apreciate it.

jaggy: What OS are you running GB-PVR and NextPVR on? I'm still on XP and I'm wondering if there is some dependency on Vista or 7?

Thanks,
Andy.

I'm still on XP (Sp3) as well, I haven't really bothered trying to get DVB-T HE-AAC playback working on this PC as I just use the NMT's for all my viewing. I also have a Nova-T USB stick for recording in MY GB-PVR server (HVR-2200 & 2210 in my NextPVR server).

If you get more than one DVB-T device in the future you will need to install the DVB fix for XP but that won't be giving you problems at the moment.

@fire I can't play your file with anything I have, but there are so many continuity errors in it that is little wonder.

Thanks again for the replies here. I discovered my aerial is pointing at the Auckland-Pinehill transmitter, so I created an ini file for Pinehill, and re-added the Nova Stick as a capture source. Now I can get TV1,2, and 3 fine on the Nova Stick, and they play fine on my popcorn! Wohoo!

However, all other channels play video fine, but with no sound on the Popcorn. These include: Four, C4, Prime, Moari TV, Shopping, etc. I haven't tried playing anything on my PC yet, just the popcorn. Time has run out for tonight, but still keen to get the other channels sound working so I'll continue investigation tomorrow.

Is there anything different about these other channels' audio that I'm missing?

@Jaggy - I'll try to play these using WMP Classic next and see what happens.

You can't play with the PCH software directly, it is only supported via mvpmcx2 as a NextPVR. I added software demuxing into basic AAC which the PCH supports.

When I play with MVPMCX as a gbpvr client, on the popcorn, sound works for TV1,2 and 3 only. All other channels have no sound when played with MVPMCX. When I play TV1,2, and 3 directly on the Popcorn the sound doesn't work.
