I cannot find this card in the analogdevice.xml file either, any help would be great.

I tried to use the PVR500 but recordings and play back are really bad blocking video capture any idea?

thanks

Can you run Filtercheck.exe and post Filtercheck.log? (in Program Files\NPVR)

Hello all,
Some information & observations on the Hauppauge HD-PVR USB device:
I've just got NPVR working with the Hauppauge HD-PVR USB (external) capture box. I am using the 1.5.7 drivers, they work fine. The unit is an HW - analog integrated hardware device that encodes to H264 .ts files, with selectable bitrate and vbr / cbr. The unit comes with ArcSoft TME (a lite version) which didn't work correctly here with either the 1.5.7 drivers or the latest 1.6.29207 drivers. ArcSoft seems to have abandoned TME so I searched out a torrent of an earlier TME version, which worked ok, but still a bit clunky. Thus, to NPVR.

Installed NPVR fine, with a Donut Fix 2.5 (dotNETFx.exe) and Dx and runtime, etc. The Hauppauge device does not need WinTV7 installed, nor Hauppauge SoftPVR, nor ffdhsow, but IT DOES NEED THE LATEST NPVR PATCHED FILES. Without which I could not get the manual record popup to work.

You still may need the ArcSoft capture module to set the bitrate and vbr/cbr settings, maybe there's a way to do this with a batch file or some advanced settings in NPVR, I've not a clue on that. NPVR seems to capture at the most recent settings you use in the ArcSoft module. The Hauppauge box captures at whatever resolution it receives via its component inputs, 720p and 1080i work fine from my satellite boxes, UK Freesat and French Canal + / CanalSat. Note that the U.K. Freesat boxes, if they have component outputs, then they will output the same resolution that you set for the HDMI output. BUT, the Humax French TNT Canal-Ready box component outputs are ONLY at 576 - and a very blurry one at that. That Humax box does record to an external USB drive, but the .ts files on there cannot be played back except through the Humax receiver itself, since they are still encrypted. The only way to get HD TV off the box for recording is to use an HDFury on the HDMI output - that works like a charm. Use an HDMI splitter before the HDFury and you can record and watch on HDMI TV simultaneously.

Early days still for this setup, I'll report back with any further information. I'll probably install the latest Hauppauge 1.6.29207 drivers when I get bored with everything working fine as now. Or, post a question here and I'll try to answer.

There is bitrate settings in the config.xml for the HDPVR, where you can specify the bitrate to use for each resolution.

Thanks sub,
I suspected there was a way. Can lines be added to select AAC vs AC3 and m2ts vs ts vs mp4?

You can only ever recording to .ts in NextPVR, so .m2ts and .mp4 are not an option.

I'm not sure how to programatically control AAC vs AC3, so it'll probably just use what ever it was last set to in the ArcSoft app (which probably just causes a registry setting somewhere in the HDPVR driver bit of the registry).

Here's a further observation: If I set ArcSoft to capture audio in AAC the resulting file has AAC @ 128k - apparently no way to set a higher bitrate. BUT, if I set ArcSoft to capture AC3, the resulting file shows audio at 384k. No point, I guess, in using AAC. This result might be because the satellite broadcast seems to be in AC3, so perhaps the Huappauge box, in order to output AAC, must first decode the AC3 and then compress to AAC.

Tried the TBS 6928 DVB-ST CI last night. Set up went easy, but hard time getting a steady picture. Jumping and locking up, glitchy sound. My Cpu wasn't maxing out, but it was going up and down alot. This is a PCIe card so maybe a bottle neck on my old ASUS K9 motherboard?

Got more luck with DVB Dream, perfect sound, not so good picture.

My TT1500 with CI doughtercard works will but is not S2 so no HD channels. Also very long 20 sec initiation start up. Channel change is fast.

BTW, I am running the latest NPVR, just can't find the signature edit option anymore!

On the first page is a statement:-

"Devices reported as NOT working

Kworld DVB-T USB - No Windows 7 drivers"

I have a Kworld UB450-T and a UB499-2T and both boxes have a "Windows 7 compatible" logo on the box. And on the web site all the DVB-T devices they make have Windows 7 compatible drivers. There is no mention about which device it is that does not have a Windows 7 driver but it is certainly NOT true that ALL Kword DVB-T USB devices dont work with Windows 7.

Sorry, when I posted that, it was the only USB tuner they did. I'll try to get a model number and the post updated.
(ISTR W7 was not even around when I first bought it).
