Just got back from my 1st anniversary holiday and I must say, this is wonderful news! Glad to see we have some volunteers. Once I figure out the damage of my little trip (Disney World is still expensive even without visiting the parks) I will look into grabbing a fusion card myself. I'm aware that there are no guarantees it will work in GB but that's ok with me.

I did scan that long assed thread about the A180, it does appear to have QAM support. I currently have a ATI HDTV Wonder which I'm not currently using. Wasn't able to get enough of a signal when I had time to set it up (in the basement). Was getting ready to try the antena in a different location in the near future. Would be willing to buy a A180 and install it too if you wanted access to both in the same machine.

Let me know.

Given I haven't have any offers for access to either a A180 or HDTV Wonder, I would be grateful for the opportunity. If you get it set up, PM me the connection details.

Cheers.

Ok folks, I think we're sorted on this front now. No more test machines required.

Just to set expectations, ATSC HDTV support wont be included in the next main release. This sort of thing is typcially pretty big and takes a couple of releases to implement.

Out of curiosity, will you be releasing any "test" versions that have partial HDTV support?

Probably about two weeks before I do a public release.

The reality is, while I've started looking at HDTV support, its not a high priority for me, so I'll just slowly chip away it when I have spare time.

I'm in New Zealand, so I dont have access to ATSC transmissions, so much like I did with DVB-T support for Europe, I'm looking for someone in US that may be able to help me out with a remote login to a box with an HDTV device.

Ideally you'll have:
  • Nice fast broadband internet connection
  • VNC or Windows 'Remote Desktop' setup
  • HDTV device with BDA drivers.
  • ...not required, but would also be helpful if you had Visual Studio.net on the machine.
If you can help out, please PM me.
i may be able to help I all ready have all the hardware email me so we may discuss the possibility

I've been looking at HDTV tuner cards for a while trying to decide what to get before the Broadcast Flag deadline. It seems that the pcHDTV 3000 is a good choice as it is Linux-based and thus will probably have good, open support for a while. However, the new AverMedia A180 looks good as it is cheap and may be supported by GBPVR as it is a BDA device. BDA is new to me, but from what I can tell so far it's the driver architecture MCE uses. Will using BDA subject GBPVR to the same DRM and BF requirements that MCE will support? Or is that outside BDA? I've also seen links to Protected BDA, so maybe that's the extension that make things suck.

Bonus question: it seems that the A180 is physically capable of tuning QAM, but driver support is probably not there right now. Can anyone confirm this?

I looked at the Roku PhotoBridge. It has an open development platform. It would be great if that could be the HD replacement for the MVP, though I think it is more Linux based. Has anyone tried compiling GBPVR with Mono on Linux, or does it use too many built-in Windows services to be worth it? I suppose none of the card drivers would work, either.

Thanks
John

Thanks anyway for the offer, but I already have access to enough machines to progress this. Sorry, I didnt respond earlier. I didnt notice your post.
