I do not see any indication in either GBPVR or the Web Admin, so assume my EPG listings are not being updated by EPGExtra.
In case you missed this in my last post: EPGExtra has nothing whatsoever to do with Web Admin, or vice versa. The only thing they have in common is that they both use the zap2it.xml file as input. Period.

Did you try running EPGExtra in its default mode (ie. without suppressing any of the attributes)? It never occurred to me that people would run EPGExtra without wanting to add the program date to the description so I've never tested for that case. It's just possible that is causing a problem.

Quote:Do I need to empty my EPG first? There may not have been anything new added.
EPGExtra will not re-update the EPG description if it has already done so on a previous pass (I think it looks for the date in parentheses at the beginning of the description to determine if it has already been updated - don't have the code in front of me right now). I have no idea how Web Admin deals with this. If you empty the EPG, you'll get a fresh copy. Otherwise, look for the most recently added programs.

If you still can't get EPGExtra to add the HD flag at the end of the description, zip up and send me your zap2it.xml file and I'll look into it.

Sorry if I was confusing. I understand that EPGExtra modifies the GBPVR database, so I should be able to see those changes either in Web Admin or GBPVR itself. I use the Web Admin 90% of the time, but also checked GBPVR to be sure I wasn't missing something.

Ok, I ran again and this time I get the air date added to the beginning of every description, as expected. I still do not see an HDTV flag.

I've included my zap2it.xml file. Thanks for taking a look.

Interesting. I added the rating, which hardly appears in my data, and now the HD is appearing. Looks good.

I hadn't realized I was missing the rating. So that is a nice addition to the EPG for me. Thanks!

Just out of interest, why don't you run it in "vanilla" mode (with no arguments)? Then you'd get everything: star rating, mpaa rating, date, hd, etc. - the full monty. Have you got a particular reason for not wanting to see some of these attributes?

I'm still confused that the HD flag just "magically" appeared so I'll still do some testing against your xml file.

I use the Web Admin about 90% of the time. I usually schedule everything through it, and only use the GBPVR interface when I am checking things out. I already had zaptools installed for quite some time, and it gives me most everything I need, but not the HD flag. I could probably ask for it to be added to the Web Admin, but here was a tool that could add the information in both places.

Thanks!

Probably overkill. The only thing you would need to back up would be your GB-PVR database (.mdb or .db3, whichever). EPGExtra is very simple - it just reads the zap2it.xml file and updates one column in your database. It has an -undo parameter for rolling back any changes. In any case, emptying your EPG and then doing an EPG update will remove all traces of any changes made.

Hi,

I just installed the epg extra utility and everything seems to be working great. I love having the extra information on the shows.

I also have the zaptools utility working but am unsure if I actually need both of these utilities. I do see that I am getting more information since installing the epg extra utility.

I was looking on the Wiki at the zaptools section and it shows that it is used with the Enhanced Web Admin plugin which I don't use and have never tried.

Currently, I only use the Xrecord plugin. Does Xrecord use the zaptools data?

ThanksSmile

EPGExtra does not use, or require, zaptools. As far as I know, neither does XRecord. Zaptools are, however, an essential component of Enhanced Web Admin.

Bottom line - you shouldn't need to be running zapimport unless you want to use the Enhanced Web Admin plugin.

Glad you find EPGExtra useful. It was designed to be easy to use and to not depend on any other plugins or tools.

Correction to my previous post: Out of curiosity, I took a look at the source code for the Xrecord plugin and found a reference to zapinterface.dll, so it appears that Xrecord does, indeed, use Zaptools.:o

Where "crashing" is defined as.....? Can you be a bit more specific?

It's working fine for me. Let me know the symptoms, error messages, log messages, etc. and I'll look into it.
