OK. So I found another bug and got rid of it. Zprocess was contributing to the 'bomb out after 1 minute' problem.

One thing I noticed though was that I really had to crank up the delay within GB-PVR's config... I have mine at 10000 (10 secs) (default 5500)

I'm, not worried about waf, as 10 seconds wait is no problem, as long as it's all stable. (I think the maximum pre-delay in GB-PVR is 16000)

I hope the new version helps...

Although I have fixed a couple of bugs, and added a few new features that will be released really soon, The version available on the wiki has been working really well on several people's GBPVR/MVP setups.

Since ZProcess's original reason for being is AVI to MPG for MVP, I have to ask:

did it ever work?
What changed and when?
What's the original aspect ratio of the source AVI?
Can you transcode manually with ZProcess?

I downloaded ZProcess from the wiki, at this link:
http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/ffmpeg.exe

I renamed ffmpeg.exe to fmpeg.exe, then put the one I downloaded into the D:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg folder(I have gbpvr installed on my D: drive). When I tried to run it, it gave an error about some OCX file.

So, I then downloaded the file at: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...rocess.zip

and unzipped it to a temporary folder. When I ran ZProcess-Install.bat, I got a path not found error. I opened ZProcess-Install.bat in a text editor, and replaced every instance of "C:\Program Files" with "%PROGRAMFILES%", a handy built-in variable for batch files, because my windows drive is not "C:". It then installed the files.

When I first ran the new ffmpeg.exe, it told me it couldn't find gbpvr.exe, so I showed it where it was. Then, it told me it couldn't find comskip.exe, which I do not use or have installed. So, I pressed cancel when the explorer window popped-up. It then had me pick some directories(back-up and something else I can't remember), which I did.

I then got a box that said "runtime error 76, path not found". I clicked the "ok" button, and then thought it had closed. However, I noticed a "ZProcess" button on my task bar.

When I clicked on that, I got a window that looks like the screenshots you have on the wiki, except my mouse pointer is an hourglass when inside the ZProcess window, instead of the usual arrow.

Thanks for trying ZProcess. I suspected there would be some having trouble, when their Program Files directory is not in the default place. Actually, I've been waiting for you. Now I know I should change a couple of things.

Using that %ProgramFiles% is a good idea to change in my install batch file. That will happen soon.

But there was a problem in the order you did things. It may easily be my documentation's fault. You must install the ZProcess.zip first, THEN update to the latest 'ffmpeg' from the url above...

I believe that that file checks once for Comskip and then stopps bothering you.

ZProcess does make a few assumptions. I will be happy to work around your decision to deviate from 'default' installations...

So for my records, and design a couple of questions...

Your Program files is still named 'Program Files' but on a different drive? Is all of your windows on that drive? (d:\windows, d:\windows\system32. d:\Program Files... etc...)

Do you use a commercial detection, and if so what?

Do you have VLC installed? (If you don't , or don't know what that is etc, don't run out and get it just for me - I wanna work around that...)

Yes

No, I edit out the commercials manually. I played with apps that remove commercials automatically, but was never satisfied with the results.

Yes, I have vlc installed, at "D:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe"

My pc is weird, because it was evolved from previous machines, not intelligently designed. Wink

I'm just looking for an easier way to transcode files for use on my mvp. My pc isn't powerful enough to transcode on-the-fly, and I get videos from various sources over which I have no control, so I end up having to fiddle with command line options, or editing batch files.

Thanks for your efforts on this project.

I will confirm if ZProcess is either assuming the location of VLC to be on C drive. I don't have it in front of me, and the amount of lines of code have exceeded my internal buffer capacity. In other words, I can't remember...

By Default all PC's are weird...

Although ZProcess is designed to be a simple one stop shop for many functions, (or at least that's the idea) many people really using it for just that: Manually transcoding files...

I wasn't sure from your post if the original problem was solved, or if you still have the path error....

I'm sure I'm doing something dumb here, but I've just downloaded zprocess, unzipped and run the install batch file, installed the reg file and tried to right-click a file and do sent to. All fine, zprocess fires up, asks me for comskip (which I don't have) and the override and backup folders, which I give it, then I get "invalid procedure call or argument" and it sits on the taskbar, however opening it just gives me an hourglass and I can't do anything other than switch tabs. Am I missing something??

It was the latest beta updated today, I downloaded it about 2 hours ago.

I'm going to try the stable one now, see if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Update - stable version (370) runs fine, going to have a play with transcoding now Smile
