• Why Background.png AND Background.jpg? My vote is for Background.jpg only as a background should never be transparant

List_ViewTransparent... is a holdover from MCE2. It is not needed.

You want an image background, an image overlay, an image selector overlay. That isn't adding much.



I don't see why you need to bother adding buttons back into the plugin skins. I took your download and did a global find-replace on the .xml files and changed all the MCE2 names in the xml files to the new names. Took less than 5 minutes. During that process I even had it change the directory path.
All the xml files are then cleaned up on image naming on what I have here.

I think that we shall have the composite image for buttons in the skin, but not enabled..... as an option for the future. Just un-tag them and the 720x480 skin with work work with Sassari or any other high resolution skin.
That is, if text sizes is defined for different resolutions in the baseskin.xml .....as I have proposed and have started to use in some BaseSkin Themes

This renaming thing will mean a lot of work with 35+ Themes and a ne HD skin, but it will be good for the community with a common image naming standard. All plugins have a possibility to work with all skins.

It is a lot of images......in my proposal, but I have been thinking of all 35+ Themes and the current skins and plugins (almost...MyMusic left)
Old Dogs se.png is not in there, but I don't know if this should be defined as a common image?

Did you read the 'aims' section at the top of my proposal? All proposal draft decisions where made in releation to those aims rather then copy useful imges into a folder :p
Another aim behind the proposal was the idea of having an AM like feature that allows for "swapping" of images like AM does with buttons. I would like to expand this to all "sets". ie buttons, list icons, list backgrounds, backgrounds, icons. Obviously some sets would only require a few different types (eg icons). All these sets of images could then be mixed and matched. For example you could have contour blue buttons with transparant list backgrounds.

ps sorry if it sounds like I'm grumpy and hate everything I just think its best to be honest and give feedback / comments. Try to make them constructive

I think Backgound.png should be there for eventual mods of colors for AM etc, since a PNG contains so much more information. It is more of an original image than a JPG would be.

Some images can go away....the images you mentioning are left overs from the News plugins...from BaseSkin, other need to be added and renamed again.

The AM swapping feature lies what is within the ButtonSets directories. It is possible to swap out everything....or just a few images.

ListView and IconView is the name has used in most of his XMLs
eg <SpecialElement name="ListView" loc="25,25" spacing="26" rows="15"/>
It will be easy to relate the images to the XMLs
Nost of my naming comes from the Core XMLs

Yes, info backgrounds must into the list.

I think arrow_up_focus.png and the others should be named Button_PageUp_Selectd.png and so on to keep the "togheter".

Listview.png -
List.png, List_background.png, ListBox.png

Info_Background.png -
Panel.png, Panel_Large.png, Panel_Tall.png, Panel_Wide.png, ect. depending on need.

Panel is not really descriptive, and Sassari uses that for ListView.png

maybe Text_Background.png ect.

Ok, just looked at your CommonImages.

First glance, most of the names sound fine to me. Will go over them better.
If we can nail something down here soon, that would be great.

Make a table on the wiki. Columns: set, image name, file type. Mark any new images added in red (for community reveiw). Would do this but away for the weekend (no net).

List_Background I think, may not be a box, might be an "artistic" swigile!
Info_Text_Background.png - fits with naming of other images.

Dragged the Info backgrounds that plugins uses and renamed them to panel_"their name".

We could have one name for the Core ListView and oher names for the plugins. The core listview a similar, but plugins list views/panels vary a lot.

The group order still don't look good....for icons
