Frank, what about doing it how I did it with yapi2xml where it took the air date and decided if it was new or not depending on how many days from the day it'll be playing is, my default was 4 days. Do all the sources not have the <date> tag?

Could you explain that a bit better?

No not all the sources have <date>. Some just have a year for movies, sometimes episodes. That's OK. I'm happy to make sure everyone can see all that they can download...

Of all the samples I received, you can now move the data into either appending the Description, Prepending the description, or turn the data into a category, so that it displays up on top.

And I took your idea of being able to shuffle the tags around, and use whatever punctuation you want.

With the old I-XMLTV, it would also move some data into the subtitle tag. I still haven't found a data type that would be appropriate. However, if anyone has ideas, I'll do that...

Currently newshow markers will work with MCE2XML, Yapixml and UK RadioTimes (birtle) because they have that data...

I'd still like the two flavours of schedules direct to check

I am a long time user of I-XMLTV, but for for a while I used the Yahoo xmltv tool (when we had the zap2it scare). I am on SD now.
The one thing I preferred in the Yahoo tool over I-XMLTV (then and now) was converting the show name into a sortable format, i.e. "Simpsons, The" instead of "The Simpsons".
Is there any chance of this new xmltv tool giving the option to format the show names with "The", "A", etc., after the show names?

Not a bad idea. I'll do it.

Gonna remove "the " "a ". I'll make it configurable so you can add what ever text you want to remove from a title.

Is this utility going to work with SD? Is it a replacement for I-XMLTV?

Yes. It will be a replacement. I-xmltv also included a grabber. This will just enhance a downloaded xmltv file.

I believe -oz- is working on another new grabber for SD.

I've been thinking of how to get extra episode information including Series related stuff. Just thinking out loud.

There could be a program that monitors the GB-PVR database for new shows being added to be recorded. Or something that checks the status of the recording service.

The program would get the show title from the database, and if it hasn't already done it, it will do online and download and save either a full html page from epguides or an xml from tvdb.com

It could immediately update the database to include the shows series number and episode number. It could also wait for postprocessing of the recorded show, and rename the filename to include the ep numbers.

In theory, it would make sure that there would be an up to date data file for each show that is in the Recording schedule from the GB-PVR database.

Also, the Enhancer could reference the library of xml/html and get the episode numbers for all shows that match.

I think JavaWiz has done something like this with the SearchWiz. I haven't been able to get into the code snip he sent me. But if it is already doing this, I wouldn't want to duplicate his work.

To be clear, the output from i-xmltv is already formatted, and this new enhancer will not be designed to work with the output file.

You will need the new schedules direct grabber (that is in progress) and then enhance that new output file with this program

Hehe, I assumed that I wouldn't enhance the already enhanced XML from I-XMLTV. Big Grin

What will be the advantages/disadvantages of this compared to I-XMLTV?

And couldn't you use the XMLTV.exe that is already developed for SD? (The same thing I-XMLTV uses)

In WizWebHelper.DLL there is an ImdbScraper and TheTvDbScraper function that will retrieve show information when passed the show title and episode.

It's still a work in progress and may not retrieve all the info you are after, but if you decide to use let me know what's missing and I will add.

Attached is the help file for the Wiz DLLs, refer to the WizWebHelper namespace section.

There won't be much difference for SD users at the moment. I'm just making it more universal for other users from around the world.

If there is something that you had with I-xmltv that the new Enhancer doesn't do, let me know. I'd be happy to add it in. Jim_'s program had a lot of features that I never used but I knew existed.

Yes, you can use the default xmltv.exe grabber...
