Reven,

If possible I second KingArgyle's suggestion but for a different reason/screen. I've noticed when checking actors some have long first+middle+last names which wrap and put everything off by a line for the screen names. Home Improvement is a good example, lots of long real names. If it makes a difference I only use MVP's. Kind of nice asking for picky details instead of real problems!

I just installed this plugin last night, and trashed the hack-job I'd made. Nice work, this is what I wanted mine to look/work like.

I like the suggestion KingArgyle made, I think I'd use that as well. Some other suggestions if I may, some of which might be doable in the skin, I'm not that familiar with skinning this stuff.

- It might be nice to display the video name along the top of the window, in the area over the black listing frame. Long names get truncated in some of the views.

- Along the lines of KingArgyles suggestion, it would be nice to display the currently focused cover art in the lower left corner when in viewing by details. Granted, for those with all the menu buttons on, there's no room, but I've disabled most, and there's enough room to display a nicely sized cover there. Or maybe the "menu toggle" button replaces the buttons with a larger cover.

3 "features" I wouldn't mind, that I had implemented in my half-assed plugin:

- A "choose random movie" button, ideally mapped to the remote, but not necessary. This sets focus on a randomly selected movie from the current category. Handy for those fits of indecision where you can't decide what to watch, or for settling disputes between the kids, whatever the box picks is what you watch Smile

- If you're using the "resume playback" feature of gbpvr, it would be nice to indicate at what point a movie is "paused" in the listings. Similar to the "seen" feature, but providing info as to how much you've seen of it. Mine displayed a "Paused at 21:37" line in the details.

- A special "dynamic" folder in the virtual root, "Paused videos", which similar to the above, lists all the videos you've watched to some degree, and might want to finish. Ideally, this would have a config option to set the threshold. For instance, if you hit play, watch 10 seconds, and stop it, gbpvr will mark a resume point. There's really no point in listing such a file as "paused". In my plugin, I had hardcoded it to 5 minutes, anything I'd watched more than 5 minutes into would show in the "Paused videos" list.

Lastly Smile It would be nice to have the ability to "import" a little more info in the .details file for those videos you can't look up on IMDB Wink

OK- I can't seem to get MYVIDEOS working. Problem seems similar to other people's issues. I install OK, choose it in the config, set it up, point it to the directories, but when OK the changes and service restarts, CPU and Memory go through the roof with GBPVR and no workie. Any help would be appreciatred.

Hi reven,

Was a fix ever found for the MyVideos skin-crashing problem?

I too basically get full CPU use and memory exhaustion when I install MyVideos as per instructions. The appropriate errors in the log are:
Quote:24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ActorInfoBioBackground"]/DrawImage[@filename="@Poster"]
24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ActorInfoGalleryBackground"]/DrawImage[@filename="@Poster"]
24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ActorInfoMoviesBackground"]/DrawImage[@filename="@Poster"]
24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 VERBOSE [2] Skindirectory = .\skin\Blue\OnScreenKeyboard 2

which you previously said would probably be a skin problem, but I am using the default blue skin updated with the skinning info from the latest MyVideos plugin (I even tried the MyVideos 3.2 beta, but got the same error).

I am using the latest mydatabase.mdb file, and the only unusual thing I can think of about my setup is that E: drive is my base drive rather than C:, so if anything was hard-coded as to directory location that might cause a problem?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

cheers,

tieke

Still same problem with version 3. I can get it to open with the plugin checked as active only if I choose blue blah skin. However, when GBPVR opens, the plugin is not listed still. Any other skin (including default blue) still eats up all CPU and memory and doesn't work. I have all default file folder settings as far as my GBPVR installation goes.

OK... I have finally decided to ask the question, that has been asked many times before... I hate doing this to you reven, but I just started with brand new install of everything... I have read your wiki's and just seem to be too dense to figure something out. Here is my system config:

Coppermine 933MHz.
1 GB SDRam
Hauppauge PVR-350 & PVR-250
NVidia FX 5200 - 128MB

Windows XP SP 2
gbpvr 0.9112b

Before I loaded the My Videos plugin, I was able to use all of the base gbpvr functions.
Your plugin is exactly what I was looking for... but I have had some troubles, getting to work.

For version 3.0, you say to connect to MyDatabase.mdb, but your install default is something else, I believe "videos.mdb". Why? Also, the field text for this entry uses quotation marks in for the "My Videos" plugin, but not the "My Music". Was this an oversight, or intended. Which one is correct?

I have been using the default blue skin, and experiencing the same problems as tieke and joshftx. I originally was able to start GBPVR, but it did not list My Videos in the main menu, then went back into the configuration and noticed the default entry for the data base was not as you requested in the wiki. I changed it to MyDatabase.mdb, leaving the quotation marks, but then when I tried to start GBPVR, it no longer started... it just blew up my CPU & Memory usage then stopped itself.

I can send you my gbpvr.exe.log, but it is too long to post here.

I installed dvd-decrypter. I downloaded the others into a directory as recommended. Meaning,
I placed dvdauthor windows binaries (v0.6.9win32), the cPVAS.exe from PVAStrumento, binaries found at http://stud3.tuwien.ac.at/~e0227529/mirr...ru-w32.zip, for mkisofs, in the directory called c:\utils\dvd. I configured the plugin to find dvdauthor there, but I have not done anything with the two batch files in the root of GBPVR yet, b/c I don't understand what to do with them yet and I cannot get the plugin to function anyway.

Help...

P.S. I would be willing to document all of the My #### plugins, so idiots like myself can install them, so if you can lead me away from my errors, I will gladly document how to do it properly.

It appears to have something to do with the virtual roots. I originally had the same problems. I had a single DIR setup with my Ripped DVD's, when I added new RIPS to the folder and tried to restart GBPVR the CPU would max out and the mem would keep increasing and it wouldn't start. I then re-added the folder to the virtual roots and I added a different folder and now it works fine.

i see now you are using 3.0 with the newest gbpvr release thats your problem.. Then again if this Interop.DexterLib.dll is not in the MAIN gbpvr directory that might be it..
