No it doesn't, it installs a very old version of ffmpeg.exe. I checked this out after your last post and a quick search google showed my that it is likely you have not installed ffdshow properly. Although I use LAV I use K-lite to install LAV and ffdshow.
Do you know from which PC NPVR is complaining it's missing from? So I'm getting the error from using the client but is it looking at the client PC for this stuff or the server do you know?
I have a recent copy installed on the server for use with PS3 Media Server, but nothing that I'm aware of on the client. Just wanted to know if NPVR had looked but couldn't find the source folder on the server.
It's a decoder so it would be used for video rendering if you have ffshow as your decoder. If you are still using your odd choice to use remote desktop for playback on the client, that could be the server. If you are using the NextPVR it is on the client. The error message says it can't find it I am not surprised that you can't.
Okay, thanks at least I know which PC to be looking at. Having established that would you recommend that I install the SAF stuff mentioned earlier in this thread to both Server and Client machines?
Have installed SAF on the client and NPVR has, I think, updated it's Decoder page to point at these newly installed decoders. Now when I go to Live TV or select something from the guide I get little LAV & FF icons appear in my system tray and I get audio and visuals.
But I do still get issues with HD channels in that NPVR fails to paint the visual fully, so you get a centimetre or so of visual at the top of the window and then it just sits there for a while and eventually you get the Windows message about NPVR has stopped responding and press Close to stop the application. Would this be an issue with trying to relay live TV over my wireless network, or is this something else?
Gotta go out now, so probably can't try any suggestions until tomorrow, likewise if log files are needed these would be tomorrow too.
There are several experiments that you can do to try and narrow down the cause of any problems. You can use Windows Media Player on the client to view recordings that are stored on the server. Plus, SAF should have installed the MPC media player on the client so you can play videos with that. Plus, you can copy a recording (the .ts file) from the server to the client and play the version that is stored on the client. The results of these various tests might offer some clue to the cause of any issues.
