hi,

I installed some new drivers and it works, but...

A) its in black and white
B) i want to install BTWincap drivers but i don't know my tuner model.
i have tried hit and miss (i know it has a philips) but the audio and video ones install but not the tuner or crossbar they are shown as unknown.

Is there any software showing the tuner model?
I am using a Pixelview PlayTv Pro.

thanks

Any ideas on the problems with recording with the videomate t300 i did post a graph, see previous posts.

Many Thanks Jase

Jase,
I'm using the External Recorder plugin with the videomate t300 now. I use the External Record to control the VLC media player http://www.videolan.org/. If you start in Time shift mode you can also watch live TV. Here are my settings if you want to try it:

Executable:
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe

Recording Parameters:
dshow:// :dshow-vdev="VideoMate BDA Analog Capture" :dshow-adev="VideoMate BDA Analog Audio Capt" :dshow-size="640x480" :dshow-caching=200 :dshow-chroma="" :dshow-fps=25.000000 :no-dshow-config :no-dshow-tuner :dshow-tuner-channel={channel} :dshow-tuner-country=61 :dshow-tuner-input=0 Confusedout=#transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=2048,scale=1,acodec=mpga,ab=192,channels=2,deinterlace}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,url="{filename}"}}

Preview Parameters:
-f dshow:// :dshow-vdev="VideoMate BDA Analog Capture" :dshow-adev="VideoMate BDA Analog Audio Capt" :dshow-size="720x576" :dshow-caching=200 :dshow-chroma="" :dshow-fps=0.000000 :no-dshow-config :no-dshow-tuner :dshow-tuner-channel={channel} :dshow-tuner-country=61 :dshow-tuner-input=0

Preview parameters may not be necessarry because I use time shift mode.

You may need to change tuner-country and fps to suit. With VLC you can set it up how you want and then copy the command string VLC generates and use it with the External Recorder.

Jase: is 'tuning twice' still on, if not: does it help if you turn it on? I had a friend with a card that only had sound if the tuning was performed twice for some obscure reason.

Heyo,
I dunno if this problem has come by before... I gave it valliant searches to find a awenser... I must be one of the extremely few that has the old clunker ATI TV Wonder PCI. XD

Anywhoo, your plugin indeed works, I've got video working, however the audio is not activated. There litterally seems to be no audio coming out of the card's external jack (which plugs into the sound card's Line In). I am almost positive your plugin is configured properly, with Line In set. I've tried switching to other inputs, but none work.

Here's a list of programs that work with this card.
Snapstream's Beyond TV (sound and video)
Dscaler (Sound and video)
ATI's software (Sound and video)
Most video confrence programs (Sound and video, good for broadcasting TV XD )
And a few others..

So I've given up and decided to just ask someone who's undoubtedly much more skilled at this. XD Yes, I've read about other sound problems and no, fiddling with Windows mixer doesn't help. XD

I'm kinda thinking that maybe there's some sorta "activator" data sent to the card to tell it to turn on the sound output, or perhaps tell the card to output to the external jack instead of the CD out on the internal part of the card in the case. Which other cards lack or don't require? I dunno, just a thought...

Hope I can get this working, I can't be the only one stuck with a old cheap card! X3

Normanr

I have been doing a bit of testing/messing really with an old tv card i have, it is a tevion xpert 7134, i think it is a kworld clone.
The reason for trying this was it is the same chipset as on my compro videomate t300 that i have been trying to get to work. Anyway while testing i got the same problems with the tevion as with the compro (no audio when recording). This was with version 0.22 of the plugin. So i tried it with the 0.17 version and it worked fine.
To get it to work i had to connect the loop cable from the back of the tunner card to my line in on my sound card.
What i am trying to do now is get it to work by using pci audio.

What i dont understand is do the drivers give the card the ability to do this?

The reason i ask this is because on the kworld site they have a software patch for the pvr software that comes with the tevion card, and in the fixes is the ability to use pci audio, but after applying the patch in the software there is no option to select this.

Many Thanks Jase

So I've got an older ATI Radeon 8500 All in wonder.

I grab the beta release of Software Recorder.

Strangley enough, it seems to work, sorta. I can watch live tv. I seem to be unable to capture it.

Video Capture card shows as:
ATI Rage Theatre Video Capture
Capture =Capture
Preview = VP (I have options of Capture, VP, VBI, VPVBI, VP works, Capture locks up GB-PVR Bad)
Recording source = tuner

So I assume Since I can't record, it's the Video Encoder.

I have options of

WMVideoEncoderDMO
ATI Media Center Video Encoder
Roxio MPEG2 Video Encoder
ATI MPEG Encoder
Roxio MPEG1 Video Encoder
Roxio MPEG1 Video Encoder
Roxio MPEG2 Video Encoder

(Yes, Roxio is listed twice) I've tried ATI MPEG, and the first Roxio MPEG2 Video Encoder.)

So am I on the right track to keep trying the different Enocders? Do i need to change the Capture?

I'm attaching logs.

BTW, I found this... Don't know if it helps

DeepSpace1: what versions of the plugin have you tried. Jase seems to think 0.17 is better than 0.22. Can you get a GraphEdit screencap of the graphs that each version builds.

Jase: Did you reconfigure the plugin when you tried 0.22? (The new functionality requires that you do this, because it needs to detect settings it previously assumed). To use PCI audio, the capture card _must_ have an audio output pin. If the pin doesn't exist, then the drivers don't support it.

mpking: Those encoders are untested. Can you try one of the moonlight/elecard/lead ones?
