hi

i have a pvr350 working well with timeshift and everything. now i wanted to add a pinnacle pctv just for the case when the pvr350 is recording that i can watch something else. so i wouldnt even need mpeg2 recording in the first place, id be happy to just watch live tv with the second card.

so here came the problems: first, after i added the pctv, gbpvr obviously took this card as first choice for recording and livetv. so, is thera a way to change the preference or merit of the single capture sources in gbpvr?

secondly, livetv didnt work on the pctv, with or without timeshifting enabled in gbpvr config. i tried several mpeg encoders like elecard, intervideo and ulead i think but none did work. after all as i said i dont need mpeg recording features so is there a way to just display the livepreview of the card?

thank you for any help!

collindv: those aren't the logs, i'm looking for the .exe.log files that get generated during your testing

Rednax: 1. probably, others have reported success with the btwincap drivers. 2. No idea, let me know - probably.

kevintickle: I think it might be an audio encoding problem, are you using the Elecard MPEG2 audio encoder?

therealshatting: you'll have to ask sub about the priority ordering of cards. I have no idea how it works. LivePreview is a global setting - there's an outstanding feature request with sub (i think) to be able to enable it per-card.

mpsoccerandski5: that's probably a driver or DirectX bug, are you running the latest versions?

GB-PVR will favor recording to capture source at the top of the list in config app. It will favor the bottom of this list for live tv.

- Moonlight MPEG2 Encoder - normanr and everyone else so far
- Elecard MPEG2 Encoder - requires a config file edit - The Mac reports some success
- LEAD MPEG-2 Encoder - nwenos reports success
- ATI MPEG Video Encoder - irony.delerium - These drivers are provided by ATI for use with their TV tuner cards.

Cards known to be working:
- LifeView FlyVideo 3000 FM (aka LifeView FlyTV Prime 34) - Philips SAA7134HL chipset - normanr - digit-life review, mittoni review
- ECS EZ-TV TVP3XP - Philips SAA7134HL chipset - miochza - digit-life review
- Pinnacle PCTV Pro - BT848 chipset, Connexant 878A with Temic 3X7 524 tuner - Klaas - aardvark review, tv-cards review
- Pinnacle PCTV Rave - BT848 chipset, Connexant 878A with Temic 3X7 035 Tuner - RMJ - tv-cards review (only preview mode confirmed, but seeing as the pro works - this one should too)
- Hauppauge WinTV Go - BT878 chipset - madmike269
- MSI built ATI Theater 550Pro - angust63
- Avermedia AVerTV 203 - BT878 chipset - convil - tv-cards review
- Avermedia UltraTV PCI 300 - BT878 chipset - Kindred359
- ATI TV Wonder Pro - Conexant CX8800-series chipse - irony.delerium

It would be appreciated that if you get this to work that you report your configuration so we can add it to the supported list.

I just installed GB-PVR on my system. I had a few small issues such as the video freezing every 30 seconds or so but fixed it by setting the overlay manager radio button in playback tab in the config utility. Im using the ATI MPEG codecs from the ATI mediacenter installation. It even allows me to properly set the SVideo/Composite setting on the vivo (something that Im still going around in circles with ATI about regarding being unable to set it in their MediaCenter TV player) Its looking very good with two small problems.

First,I cant set the aspect ratio. I could when I first installed using F7,but now, after messing with the settings It no longer works. (it just does nothing). The second problem Im having is that Im getting no audio. My card is an x850XT and it has VIVO functionality. It has no audio output and Im running the audio into the AUX-In connection on my Turtle Beach Montego DDL. I get audio in the ATI TV player application but do not get it in GB-PVR.

On another note,is there any support for the cheezy do it yourself serial port IR blasters that Ive heard are sometimes used with linux? If not, what is a good IR Blaster that is known to work with a Dish Network Box? My thought is that I shouldnt need a TV tuner card (my vivo should be just fine) as I want to tune from my Dish receiver anyway.

mpsoccerandski5: cool, glad to know it wasn't a wdm issue

phlatlyn: aspect: you might need to use wmr7/wmr9 to use aspect, not 100% sure - sub can clear that one up. audio: logs + graphedit screenshot would help. ir blasters: Girder (from promixis) is a good 'IR can do anything' program.

I have been using the elecard mpeg2 audio encoder, but I just tried using hauppauge one....it seems to be a bit better, but still not synced exactly.

Can you recommend another codec to install and try?

Thanks for your help,
Kevin

I'm using the moonlight encoders (should be very similar to the elecard ones). You might also want to try different decoders - I've seen that changing the uncompressing end can make a difference too. Also is your hardware beefy enough? I've found that slower hardware can make the sync worse.
