collindv Wrote:The setting I can change in graphedit to get the sound working is in the ATI TV Wonder AV Crossbar properties. This is done by changing the output to "Video Tuner Out" (which changes the input to "Video Tuner In") and clicking the "Link Related Systems" checkbox (I guess to link the "Audio Tuner In" to the "Audio Decoder Out").
What is your 'Recording Source' drop down set to in the config window?
If you don't click "Link Related Systems" does it still work?
You could try and tweak the 'crossbarRoutings' setting in the config_records.xml file.
The format is: input pin-output pin,input pin-output pin,input pin-output pin,etc (so based on your logs, you've selected Video:Tuner-Video:Output)
Maybe try making it 1-0,4-1 (here I'm assuming that 'Audio Tuner In' is input pin 4, and "Audio Decorder Out" is output pin 1).

Normanr, thanks for the reply.

My recording source is set to WDM software encoder recorder. It only works if I click "Link related systems". I edited the config-recorders.xml file (I think this is the one you meant?) to contain the 1-0,4-1 line and it did not help. I also tried 1-0,3-3 with no luck.

I'm not sure that it's actually reading that setting. I actually deleted the 1-0 that was there (so that the crossbarroutings was blank) and it has no effect at all. I would think it shouldn't have given me a picture at that point?

Wierd: In the logs you sent (gbpvr.exe.log*), two of the four logs show the 'CreateCaptureDevices-FindInterface(IAMCrossbar)' entry working, and the other two show it crashing. I'm assuming that something else was trying to use the crossbar while you were testing the second two times (having graphedit open can count, also if something has 'crashed' it might not have released it).

The crossbar routing settings are preserved on the card between uses, so erasing the config file entry might not have any effect immediatly. You can use GraphEdit to 'preload' the crossbar routing you want, and then if the config file is blank then the plugin won't override it. The setting is probably reset when you power off the pc.

If you post a screenshot of the crossbar device from GraphEdit, I'll try and make an educated guess about what your routing should be.

I'm using an ATI TV Wonder Pro card and have Live TV working fine with the Software Compression Plugin but I cannot seem to get recording to work. When I first started trying to record I would get a directory created but no files. I then downloaded an eval version of the Elecard mpeg encoder and with certain combos I would get a file but I couldn't play it back. I'm not sure if it's because nothing I have installed can decode it or not. Do I have to have and Elecard mpeg player? I have ATI selections available for the encoder sections and the muxer section but using them gives me no file when I try to record. I'll keep reading but right now it's mostly trial and error for me because I don't understand why some stuff works (sort of) and some doesn't. Any tips or pointers would be appreciated. I'm trying to see if I need to return this card. It goes BSOD or reboots with the ATI multimedia center software, so far hasn't done that with GB-PVR.

Thanks!

Update: I got recording to work, then I couldn't watch Live TV! Subsequent fiddling completely broke it so now the config program locks up when I try to make changes (need to find info and read about these settings). I guess I will have to un-install/re-install and start over. The problem had to do with the capture and preview settings.

Questions:
1)With the Software Recorder plugin and this TV Wonder PRO, is it going to be possible to record and watch, or just one or the other?
2) Is it possible to have different configurations setup, for instance, one for recording and one for watching selecting between them if the answer to #1 is no?

Thanks!

I have a really basic question -- I have been reading this thread as carefully as I could, but I still haven't figured out how to get the MPEG encoders. I have installed both Elecard's and LEAD's. However, when I open the settings of the WDM Software Encoder Recorder, the Video Encoder drop-down list is always empty (I even tried rebooting the computer).

Could someone please point me to an explanation on how to get GB-PVR to detect the encoders?

Thanks!

when I have live tv running and I check my WDM Software Encoder Recorder settings, there is nothing selected in the "recording source" box and there are no selections in the drop down menu (it usually says "tv tuner" if I check it without live tv running). Could this be my problem?

No, I was checking it with only the Config program running. Anyway, I just solved the problem by installing the latest development version of SoftwareRecorded. Now it works like a charm. Smile

Thanks!
