Nice clean setup, weisguy Smile

I'd like to get all my cables wireloomed and tied up like you have since I think my PVR setup is pretty much the way I want it now. Good job.

I'll have to untie it later down the line?

If it's been working for 6 months as-is and then it quits working a month after I tie up all the cables... I really doubt one of the cables is at fault, it's probably a quirk with my HTPC.

reviving dead old thread, but
weisguy, I have the exact same cheap entertainment center as you, given I got it when I was 13, but that sits in my bedroom at home, I have a much nicer one in my apartment (I will post a pic when I get home). also I would suggest not putting the shuttle on the carpet directly, it makes it hotter and will fill it with dust quicker... you could put that extra shelf under it

weisguy Wrote:There is an entire thread here dedicated to pictures of people's TV setups as they have integrated them into their entertainment centers:

Hopefully having this thread resurface will trigger more people to post pictures - I really enjoy seeing other people's ideas!

HAHA I didnt even read that before I started reading this thread, and replied to the person who wanted people to revive it

EDIT: sorry about the double post shiningdragon

So, my post on the first page is completely outdated. Not much is now as it was a few month ago.

I'll later add the MediaCenter itself (include technical specifications) and the workplace on the left side.

Ted the Penguin,

The PC is actually off the ground now for the reason you suggest and has been for a while. I have an old end table it sits on now... I appreciate the suggestion!

shiningdragon, you need some wire managment. and white speaker wire for those two front ones. or you could get serious about it and do it in wall.

sorry I havnt gotten a pic of my newer setup taken yet. as soon as I got home last night my girlfriend decided we should go somewhere, so no playing with the HTPC Sad

so what you see in the picture
  • HTPC
    • ASUS T2P case/mobo: free (used it as my main pc then it was sitting around)
    • Pentium 4 1.8GHz: free (from a friend)
    • Nvidia Geforce 5200FX: free (from the same friend)
    • 40GB Western Digital 7200RPM HDD: free (found in the trash room, no joke)
    • 512MB Corsair ValuRAM: had to buy it
    • Hauppauge winTV pvr 150: had to buy it
  • Xbox
  • Gamecube
  • Dreamcast
  • N64!!!
  • the 10 commandments of gaming (that little poster)
  • my DVD collection at this point I probably had about 190

ok so changes I have made since this pic.
  • my DVD shelf is full and I dont know whether to feel happy or sad.
  • I got more games for my xbox and DS. and I got a black DS Lite (matches my girlfriend's Ice Blue one (yay imports).
  • I got all the extra crap off of the top of the armoire which are an extra shelf and duplicate DVDs from my girlfriends collection before we combind them (since I bought most of hers for her anyways)
  • if you look really closely there is a piece of tape over the IR receiver of the cable box, that has been removed, and I now change channels with a serial cable, SO much better.
  • got an HDTV, westinghouse 32w6, hooked up through VGA, and its beautiful, I plugged it in and said crap, I can never return this, it looks too good to go back to a tube.
  • the Xbox is now hooked up via component cables
  • hooked up some speakers that I had to the audio out on the TV, creative itriuge vs tv speakers, you guess who wins. although I am thinking about moving the speakers from my computer out there, since theyre 450W with a 6.5" 150W sub.. still a "bookshelf" system, but hey its better right. but I really like them when I play games, and I have them SO well integrated into my desk now (I will post a pic of that too probably, when i get the time to take pics at home)
  • there are NO visible cables for anything AV related, everything is routed through the back of the armoire

I will try to post updated pics as soon as possible
