Not sure what you mean by the Windows "Crash screen". What does it say? Perhaps more imortantly, what's in the EPGExtra.log file? Are you sure the Zap2it.xml file exists? If not, make sure that the config.xml still has <SaveZap2itXML> set to "true".

I just noticed this tonight as well. The program crashes when attempting to update the database. It readed the zap2it.xml file according to the log. It then reports that it is updating the database, then it crashes. I saw a notice delaring that Windows had to close the program.

Are you running GB-PVR with MS-Access or SQLite? The log looks as if it's not even getting as far as connecting to the database. Does the Windows error say anything that might be helpful (apart from that it had to close the app)?

tipstir Wrote:I think you need to test EPGExtra on a fresh install of GBPVR 97.13 not a update over 97.9. Otherwise you won't know what David and I are dealing.
David - Are you running a fresh install or an upgrade from 97.9?

Thanks, tipstir, but I still need to know if you are running GB-PVR with the MS-Access database or if you have converted to SQLite (check your config.xml entries if you're not sure).

The latest version of EPGExtra writes the database connection step to the log but the version you are running (the official wiki version) does not do this. Knowing which db you are using is essential if I am to figure out why you are getting this error (and you still haven't told me what the Windows error message actually says).

Tipstir, the screen print you gave me is almost what I need but the most important info has already scrolled off the top of the screen. If you can make the cmd window bigger, or scroll up so I can read what it said, that would be very helpful.

GBPVR 97.9 moved to a new version of SQLite (version 1.0.30.1). The previous version came with SQLite 1.0.27.1. This utility will need to be rebuilt to use the new rev of the SQLite dll.

So now I'm getting confused  . Tipstir is not running GB-PVR with SQLite so it's version should not affect his problem. The big question on his problem is why EPGExtra is trying to connect to SQLite and not MS-Access. I have both my production and test boxes running SQLite right now so I'll have to set up an MS-Access GB-PVR environment to try to reproduce his problem.

However, regarding the SQLite versioning, EPGExtra was working fine for everybody with 97.9 and SQLite so I assume no versioning problems were present. I know sub did upgrade the SQlite Provider for 97.13 but, since EPGExtra runs externally to GB-PVR (does it's own database connections, etc.) I thought it would not be affected. I seem to be running EPGExtra with 97.13 and SQLite without any problems and nobody else has reported an issue with SQLite connects (haven't heard back from David which db he's using yet).

tipstir Wrote:Ubu so you're saying this SQlite is now needed to run your EPGExtra under 97.13. Right now, if I don't need to I rather not add more stuff to a clean build.
I'm saying that I don't have a GB-PVR 97.13 instance currently running with MS Access. I need time to set one up so I can try to reproduce this problem you are experiencing. Since I don't know what the problem is yet, I can't answer your question.

I was thinking that anybody upgrading to 97.13 would have already converted to SQLite since this may possibly be the last release that will support MS-Access. I'm currently working on future releases of both EPGExtra and UbuStream and, while I'm not explicitly withdrawing support for MS-Access, I may not have the time and resources to test them with anything but SQLite.

I'm done with the image you posted, so you can nuke it whenever you like. Thanks for your speedy response in posting it.

Hi,

I just upgraded to 97.13 from a build that was about 3 or 4 versions ago (sorry don't remember what) and I converted to SQLLite and tried EpgExtra, and I also get a crash. Windows reports EPGExtra encountered a problem and needs to close. The log shows :

EPGExtra will add these extra items to the GBPVR program description:
Year Released
Star Rating
First Aired Date
Repeat Flag
MPAA Rating
Closed Captions
Stereo

To suppress individual items, the following command line parms may be used:
-nomoviedate
-nostarrating
-noairdate
-norepeat
-norating
-noCC
-nostereo
(ie. EPGExtra -norepeat -noCC -nostereo)

To rollback all previous changes, use -undo

Start time: 12:21:47 PM
Reading program data from Zap2it.xml.....
Programs read: 10424
Updating GBPVR database program descriptions....

Event viewer shows a Net 2 error:

EventType clr20r3, P1 epgextra.exe, P2 1.0.0.0, P3 44800ae8, P4 epgextra, P5 1.0.0.0, P6 44800ae8, P7 1f, P8 e, P9 system.io.fileloadexception, P10 NIL.

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro. I hope this helps, I'm looking forward to the info that EPGExtra provides.

Thanks......Robert

Sorry about that. I was so happy to have my GBPVR working right last night that I sat and watched some shows. Smile

I have been on the SQLite DB since moving to 97.x.
