you can play via Network share dvd.
or via the myihomeserver softwear.
Are you sure you can stream it via myihomeserver? How do you have your DVD stored on your hard drive? An ISO file? or are you playing .vob files?

I can imaging you'd be able to play it via a network share, but was fairly sure I read it couldnt be streamed.

Keep in mind to play DVD's with Menu support you can't use the http servers like myIhome or GBPVR, you have to use SMB of NFS. I would imagine there should be a way for an http server to reference a share on the PCH as long as the name is known.

I got this Popcorn Hour server to somewhat work with the Buffalo LinkTheater. It will navigate through the menus, view the TV guide and schedule recordings. Still have not gotten it to play a recording or watch live tv.

Had to change a few things in index.aspx and index.aspx.cs

I still get "INVALID" when using some of the remote buttons, such as RW and FF. Anyone know what the TVID values are for the LinkTheater remote, especially the ENTER key?

When I get this to play recordings I will upload the modified files.

P.S. Does anyone know if it's possible to have the server computer come out of standby\hibernation when you turn on the LinkTheater?

Sub,

You might try using the following inside the <head> tag in index.aspx instead of using <img src="/getscreen.aspx?i=<% GetTimestamp();%>" width="<% GetWidth(); %>" height="<% GetHeight(); %>" />

<head>
<title>GB-PCH</title>
<% GetMetaRefresh(); %>
<meta SYABAS-BACKGROUND="/getscreen.aspx?i=<% GetTimestamp();%>"
<meta SYABAS-COMPACT=OFF>
<meta SYABAS-FULLSCREEN>
</head>

It will render the gbpvr screen using the internal render engine instead of the internal browser. It renders faster and uses 16mil colors.

This works in the LinkTheater so I assume it would also work in the Popcorn Hour, though it won't have the overscan border. My LCD TV doesn't need it.Big Grin

I did try this, and it worked but there was a couple of downsides. Loss of overscan was one of these. I also had image wrapping because the image I was producing didnt match the resolution on the PH. Unfortunately I have to render to a lower resolution otherwise its too slow (having to produce .jpg images for each screen etc).

It would have been perfect if it stretched the image to filll the screen regardless of its size. I could have easily incorporated an overscan boarder in the image itself. Thanks for the tip anway.

On the LinkTheater it stretches the image across the full screen. I have my LinkTheater set to 720p. I think the resolution is 13xx X 720. Don't know why it wouldn't do the same on the PH. Did you use the SYABAS-FULLSCREEN meta command?

edit: I did get the wrapping image when I tried using the getscreen.aspx call inside the <body> tag.

Yeah, I cut and past above.

If it is stretching to fullscreen on the LinkTheater then I might try to ask Syabas about it.

Make sure to remove any other getscreen.aspx calls.

I've talked with Syabas about this today and some other stuff today. Below are their comments about these header tags.
Quote:SYABAS-BACKGROUND is nothing special for NMT, but there for compatibility. For LinkTheater, only SYABAS-COMPACT is in 32-bit color and the rest of background images or images only support 8-bit color. That's why it look much better on LinkTheater. For NMT, all are 32-bit. Therefore if you want to use SYABAS-BACK-GROUND, i will suggest you uisng <body background=...> instead as this is more proper html.

'SYABAS-FULLSCREEN' mean that the body background will cover tv overscan area. It is meaningless in LinkTheater as SYABAS-BACKGROUND will always be fullscreen. Therefore it is obsoleted in NMT. SYABAS-COMPACT already obsolete on both LinkTheater and NMT.
So it sounds like it wont buy us much on a Popcorn Hour, but will look better on the LinkTheater.
