It is possible that you have a partial download. Delete C:\mvpmc\NativeUtilities.zip if it exists and try again. If it still fails untick the option to install updates and try again.

In my case, the following has happened.

I ran the installer.
I restarted my "server" computer with GBPVR installed on it (1.3.7)
I restarted PCH.
I browsed to network neighborhood of computers, including my gppvr server.
I selected that server
I selected the mvpmc share
I clicked on GB-PVR.html under the file browser
I chose the middle option "GB-PVR via Network Browser".
The PCH screen went black...and has stayed black.
Getting anything to happen after this requires a pulling the plug.

Note: on the server at startup is a window whos title is "MVP Controller" which states "This window is an MVP server process..." which I have left alone (still running)
--PCH Video is set to 720p/60hz
--PCH firmware: 01-17-081023-15-POP-402-000

After all this I checked the logs directory and sorted by last mod date...none of the log files mentions anything about attempted connections...etc.

As a final try I turned any/all windows firewalls off and restarted the PCH - ran through steps above...still black screen result.

Could you zip and upload your logs? Is your gbpvr recording service needs to be set to interact with desktop? Also did you wait thirty seconds before unplugging?

Here are the logs...

Also ?? "interact with desktop" ?? not sure about that one -- and wait 30 seconds I assume means wait 30 secs of blackscreen on PCH before cycling power...then yea I waited over 2 minutes Rolleyes

The logs look ok, but there is no connection, when you get the black screen can you telnet to the PCH? If so can you type this

/etc/mvpmcx/mvpmcx2 -m 720

If that works can you please zip and upload your startmeup file.

Thanks for suggestion - thought I had already tried telnet.

I was able to telnet and type the command and also captured a lot of the output from mvpmcx2 to the telnet console.
Both the output and the startmeup are in the zip.

After a bit the mvpmcx2 gave up and exited and the PCH went back to regular media selection screen (video or music or file, etc.)

So the client side looks ok and it is stopping after thirty seconds so you have found the startmeup setting to start with. However it is not finding GBPVR. This should either be because a firewall is blocking you are you don't have the Recording service running. Right click the recording service service properties and tell it to interact with desktop.

I installed everything according to guidelines, with some black screen issue that I was able to solve somehow, however the GBPVR when appears on PCH it forces the resolution to 480i even though I have PCH setup saved to 1080i/50hz.

I must be missing something silly somewhere but I am stuck, cannot go beyond 480i, any advise what to do

I found this same bug with component video over the weekend in the code I took from mvpmc. The logic to read the configuration data from the PCH made a bad assumption that the TV remode code values 0-10 match the values that are stored and they aren't even close. I did update mvpmcx2 but since I didn't wanted to go back and retest the values with the old firmware (I'm using the RC3 which is due for release this week) I held back on uploading it. Since the symptom is the same I will upload a patch tonight.

Until then, for your particular case if you add -m 1080 -frequency 50 to the startmeup command line you should be okay.

yes, I have it on component, hovever the command line makes no difference, still 480i
I edited startmeup and then re-started the PVR from PCH with same 480i res, do I need to restart PCH or PC after making an edit to startmeup?

this is what I have:
#echo "Shell to mvpmcx2 "

#remove the # from most appropriate line

TV settings as setup

#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 &

# Analog TV settings

#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m ntsc &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal &

# HDMI/DVI settings examples

#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 --frequency 50 &

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i --frequency 50 &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p &
