I probably should have been more specific here:
  • I'd remove the MediaFolderIcons and NoCoverArt folders, I'm not sure where ListButtons are used so perhaps that folder as well.

As for the layout folder,
  • I'd have the three plugins each with the: standard (?naming?) xml layout and meta views. I'd aslo have the SkinPluginConfig.xml load the list-background.png from the slick view (located in the slick folder and loaded to the relevent plugin folder)

  • The mainmenu xml's, the baseskin xmls (?naming?)

  • The TVGuide layouts, (how would you guys handle the live-guide layout option?)

  • OSD, again I'd probably load the OSD graphics from here.

What do you guys think?

I'll take a look..
There are also some images installed into the CoreImages folder which are not currently on the CommonImages list, eg Music-artists.png

Hairy Wrote:Listbuttons: I don't know where these are used and I've never done graphics for them before but I'm more than willing to if needed.
See the "Page Up/Down Buttons" section on the CommonImagesList. These are similar to the NavigationalIndicators but have a more of a button feel. I think we could simply copy the NavigationalIndicators resources into the ButtonsList folder.

Hairy Wrote:MediaFolderIcons: I feel these are covered with the graphics in "FolderIcons", but again just let me know.
OK, this is just the case of moving the Music/Picture/Video folder images to a set in the MediaFolderIcons.

Hairy Wrote:NoCoverArt: I also feel that this is covered by the hardcoded FileIcons (which have a transparent option included for the skinplugin) (*)
I think you're thinking of the no cover art used on lists, this image is used for things like screensavers or the music plugins which have a "now playing" section - like in the Music plugin screenshot below (bottom left). The actual images can be the music note and transparant.png but the folder needs to be there for future options and theme selections.

Perhaps a good idea would be to start another thread on this and try to explain each item in more detail.

I'm trying to keep the CS Tasks page updated so we know what's left and what's been discussed - easy to loose good ideas in long threads/posts. Feel free to edit.

A few of those, like Music-Artists and such are used only by the "Music" plugin and are hard coded to the _CoreImages folder.

So are they non-changeable - i.e. the same for every theme?

I'll be honest I'm not too sure of the distinction here between the up/down.png and the more up/down/left/right. I've always used the same graphics for both with the old skinplugin. So my suggestion was to do up/down/left/right graphics and let the plugin load them to the relevant spots.

Quote:OK, this is just the case of moving the Music/Picture/Video folder images to a set in the MediaFolderIcons.

Again since were letting the skin use the hardcoded folders, I thought we mightn't need separate media folders, that way the user just loads one selection for folders.

My assumption (and you know what they say about those Smile) was that the hardcoded media file icon (the little white musical note) would take care of this.

I'd like to humbly stress that you guys really do know the GB skinning environment better than I do. I can't help making suggestions based on what I see (but I'm fully aware that I don't always see the whole picture). So seriously if you guys see a need for stuff I don't (or can't seem to get why not Big Grin) then just go with it ,and if you need specific graphics just shout.

I've made some progress on the layout folder. I've done the plugin views and Tvguides. I'm still messing with the mainmenu's. I've got the three main vertical (left, center, right) done, but I'm not having a huge amount of luck with slick and horizontal menu views and I need some more tinkering time with these, but these are not important enough to delay the beta release.

I'll try to get as much of this done by tomorrow and then we can decide on the frills like the OSD and Live-guide.

The reason for the split is that the Up/Down.png should be used when the graphic is clickable. Is this the case fatmando? If not then yes, they should be merged.

Happy to merge these and drop the MediaFolder folder. One less option to choose, just makes a little more work to create a folder "set".

IMO a NoCoverArt image is required.

Correct. They don't need to be theme items.
