Works great on my 2015 shield pro! Thank you Sub, as always..... best software available to utilize my HDHomerun primes.

Couple of quick questions (hopefully they have not been covered already)

1. Any way of making the selection for Channel "groups" a drop-down from the main "guide tab" or "channel tab" instead of in settings/channels?
2. Are you planning on making this available to Amazon devices?

If these have been asked before, I apologize.

-Rich

***Edit*** I see you may port this to Amazon in the future.

I purchased your app and it runs great on my OnePlus 6. I just side-loaded it on my Fire TV to see if it would work, but it pops up saying "This app is trying to open a link with an external market that is not available on this device" and then closes. Any chance you might make a Fire TV compatible version? It would be a great add-on for NextPVR. I currently run Kodi on Fire TV to access my NextPVR recording, but it is a bit sluggish. I think your Android app would be a lot better.

I quickly tested the App using the latest Shield and its remote (not it's gamepad) as well as a Microsoft Bluetooth ARC mouse (my preference) and provide some feedback:

Guide- I am not sure what order the group's channels appear, as it is not alpha nor by channel number. Perhaps a settings option to display by channel number and another setting to hide the channel number for those who do not need to see it on the various screens. The remote worked good. The mouse scroll does not work but I see that I can drag to reveal the other channels and times. Perhaps an option to jump ahead 24 hours at a time so I can set up a week's recordings from the App

Recordings Screen - No problems with remote nor the mouse. Perhaps a back button after selecting a program so I can exit with the mouse, although I can select 'watch' then stop watching to go back.

Settings - The remote does not work at all, although the mouse does.

Problem with this mouse - you curve the ARC mouse to make a selection then flatten it to put it back into battery saver mode. However the App detects this action and drops you back into the beginning of the respective menu screen eg if I select a recording to watch, it starts to play but when I close the mouse it stops playing and I end up back on the Recordings Screen.

Overall I am impressed with the app and see it having great potential as a TV viewer although it would need to develop more options in time.

I shall watch its development with interest.

Sorry, I'd been meaning to give you feedback, but have been pretty busy with other non-NextPVR stuff the last few weeks.

To be honest, I had no idea you could even use a remote with the Shield. I'll try this and check what I can do to improve compatibility.

I'll have a read through these comments in more detail when things settle down on the day job front.

Actually it does but it just doesn't highlight things properly other than the "Video Bitrate" bar. When you land on the settings page press the up button or down button on the remote a few times to get the Bitrate bar to select (the outline will change from dark grey to purple). While it is selected, pressing Left or Right will change the setting. From here if you press Down one time you will be on the "Direct Play" option and pressing the Select (center) button will toggle it. If you press up from the "Video Bitrate" bar it will select "Channel Group" and pressing select will open the drop down menu.

Speaking of highlighting issues, the Server Select screen also suffers from things not highlighting when you try to navigate it using a remote. You have to make logical guesses as to where the selection is at and press buttons to move the invisible selector accordingly.

My BIGGEST wish list item for this app though is the ability to deinterlace on the client side. I currently have the server transcoding before sending the signal to the client but doing this it takes about 15 seconds or more to start playing AND the max bitrate I can stream at is 720p 3.0Mbps. However, if deinterlacing could be done client side, I could use Direct Play which would allow me to stream at 1080 and starts playback in just 1 to 2 seconds.

When it comes to Direct Play, the playback is handled by Exoplayer, and I'm limited to whatever it can do on the target platform.

What hardware are you using? I have read that AMLogic based android platform have broken deinterlacing.

Fire TV Box V2 in this case so the processor is MediaTek 8173C. I read something about a way to do the deinterlacing by tunneling to a software decoder. There are Stand alone players that do this (MX Player for one). I do understand that may be too much work for you, but another option might be to allow people to select an external player to use such as MX Player. Essentially the NVPR app would become a front end that build the stream link and then pass it off to another player. Not sure how feasible that is either though.

If not I guess I'll find a way to live with it. Maybe there are better ffmpeg settings I could use to improve efficiency or something. I'll play around with that on my end, unless you have some suggestions on that front.
