It’s late here and I’m finished for the day. I’ll try your suggestion tomorrow. There’s definitely a difference between the Astra 28.2E scan tables available in Windows and Linux. I’ve no idea who maintains those scan tables in Linux but they definitely look suspect.

I ran dvb-fe-tool --femon -A in Terminal and watched it locking muxes while I ran Scan in NPVR. You can see the results from the attached logs. It's getting more bizzare now.

Did you mean to also attach the output of dvb-fe-tool?

No but I'm attaching it now along with the latest scan logs. It looks like running the dvb-fe-tool wakes up the tuner allowing NPVR to scan.

Double-check the file to avoid any typos or errors that could hinder the scanning process. Additionally, consider updating dvbv5-scan and its associated files to the latest versions to ensure compatibility and optimize performance with the satellite. If you encounter any issues, consulting online forums or user communities dedicated to satellite scanning may provide helpful troubleshooting tips and solutions.

They would have been the first things I checked before reporting the issue here. I’m assisting with a test on a new feature being implemented with NPVR so believe me I’m registered on many dedicated satellite related forums but thanks for your insights.

Just what I needed in the middle of this.

What I have learnt from this is the dvb scan tables are a mess certainly for Astra 28.2E. I’m having no luck with dvbv5-scan trying to create a fresh scan table either using the N switch .

Well the point of this exercise was to get OTA 7 day EPG in NPVR under Linux, in this case using a Sat/IP DVBS tuner. Mission accomplished. Unfortunately I can’t repeat the exercise using an internal PCI tuner owing to the difficulties I outlined here. I do know the hardware is not at fault so in the absence of an explanation I’m stumped. Maybe someone else with an internal tuner that can receive Astra 28.2 could try it.

All I can say it was an interesting journey and definitely worth it as I’ve no further reliance on external EPG sources for broadcasts on Astra 28.2

Thanks again Sub.

Glad I could help. Anything else you need tested particularly on DVBS just let me know.

I can receive satellite broadcasts from 45 west to 45 east. I do know that maintenance of those DVBS scan tables has all but disappeared so I’m trying to create my own which I’ll gladly upload here when I’ve completed the list.

Two things

- the v4linux source has updated conf files based on Lyngsat for dvb-s and dvb-t UK which I will include in my curated list for LE. https://git.linuxtv.org/dtv-scan-tables....e77083a4b5

- it miight be worth trying a boot usb with LE just to confirm it isn't your Linux setup
