I should add that the Hauppauge InterVideo decoders work fine. I am using the latest ATI drivers. Did update the DirectX file a while back, but it is possible windows updates have overridden it again. But if itis DirectX, why do the Intervideo coders work fine?

By default, the Hauppauge Intervideo codecs don't use DXVA.

I've used 4 different codecs(including the lates CyberLink) and none of them help, does anyone know if an S-video cable might help me at all?

Why not buy an S-video cable and see if it helps? They're not expensive. Conventional wisdom has it that S-video will give better results than composite and I have certainly experienced that it's a bit better. I now have a component cable hook up which produces a higher quality picture than either S-video or composite.

We need more information in order to help you.

As Chris.Day pointed out, the picture shown in post 78 shows very bad interlacing artifacts, so an S-video cable will not fix that.

Now lets work on one issue at a time, starting with TV only.

Please:
- detail hardware
- video driver version and settings (resolution, refresh rate, colours, DXVA, deinterlacing, AGP/PCI settings)
- GBPVR version and playback config, and LiveTV-preview config
- any custom parameters in GBPVR direct.ini or config.xml
- video decoder settings of your chosen decoder.
- Re-start GBPVR, run LiveTV, exit, and post your "gbpvr.exe-native.log" into this thread.

alright, the computer in question is an Athlon 64 3000+ overclocked to 2.4ghz from 1.8ghz(this has never been a problem in the year that i've owned it), with 1GB of PC3200 RAM(i used dividers to OC) and a Radeon X800GT(so it supports all the necessary features)

i'm not sure the exact video driver version but they are the most recent ATI ones as of a few days ago, the refresh rate is 60hz(i m on an LCD) and i even download ATI Tray Tools in an attempt to turn on DXVA, deinterlacing is set to auto but i've tested every mode while my PCIe bus is set at its normal 100mhz, my PCI mode also at 33mhz(iirc, i havent changed it)

Again I'm using the latest version of GB PVR, ive been playing around with a bunch of playback config options(Defualt, Nero, Intervideo and Cyberlink) and i'm using VMR9(although ive tried all 4)

The only change made in the direct.ini is that i increase the brightness but the issue existed before that

not 100% what you mean there but i think its covered 2 posts up(if not then tell me)

I think i got everything there, if not then once again let me know

On the misc tab of the config app, try setting your deinterlacing to 'encoder pass through'.

either way, it still happens with Encoder Passthrough on

What have you configured LiveTV-Preview Deinterlacing to?

Are you using FFDShow post-processing?

What screen resolution are you using?

What type of interface are you using to your LCD display?

From the list of components listed in your logs, I can see that you'll be receiving an interlaced picture.

Switching to 'encoder pass through' will produce a correctly deinterlaced picture (unless you've configured your video decoder to not deinterlace).

GB-PVR is the wrong app for this sort of task.
