A couple of things i've noticed, which I'm not sure if it's down to your plug-in or GB-PVR are that when playing the radio the GB-PVR tray icon doesn't detect that a tuner is being used. Also, if I'm recording something and listening to the radio (I have a dual tuner) then stop the radio to watch live TV I can't because it thinks the other tuner is still in use.

Thanks again Smile.
Great - glad you got it working. I'm a bit concerned that it didn't terminate itself properley though. I'll review the code.

The systray app. has no way of knowing that the dvbtr process is using a tuner and I don't think there is any way that the plugin can pass that information. Just one example of how I can only go so far to integrate things with GB-PVR.

WRT Live TV. I can see the logic as to why it wouldn't work immediately afterwards but would've thought that waiting perhaps 15-30 seconds after stopping the radio, it should work. I'll do some tests.

Cheers,
Brian

bgowland Wrote:At a guess, it's not finding one of the UI elements. These are defined in the skin - have you installed the skin files? If you're not using the blue or Community3 skins, you'll need to manually add a 'DVB-T Radio' sub folder to skin2 and copy the skin xml files into it.

If you're sure the skin is correct, could you try again and post the full pvrx2.exe.log file as well as all of the files from the dvbt radio Logs folder.

flushed the logs, went to reproduce the problem and it worked fine! not sure what the problem was. Maybe stopping and starting the recording service did it, or just one of those weird computer gremlins i guess.
Anyway, top plugin - been waiting a loooong time for this - so thanks a lot for the work SmileSmile

bgowland Wrote:It looks like the dvbtr.exe process is still running - this is odd as the process is supposed to terminate itself after two minutes if it doesn't have any communication from the plugin.

Start Task Manager and look on the 'Processes' tab and use End Process to kill it then try again.

PS (and maybe related to my original problem too) I found the dvbtr process running after two days with no pvrx2 running at all. I've been away over the weekend so I only noticed cos I was clearing the logs and it wouldn't let me untill I'd killed the process.
It looks intermittant tho - I've done a few quick tests and the process seems to end immediately when I hit the main menu button so can't reproduce at the moment.

I'm not sure what happened - looking back at your logs, it seems like the dvbtr.exe didn't properley create the messagehandler which would mean the plugin wouldn't have been able to communicate with it. There's also a 'feature' of the process in that the messagehandler is responsible for creating the thread that is used to self-terminate after a two minute period if it doesn't hear from the plugin. Deadlock. :o

I'm currently reviewing all of the code for a new version soon which should cover these issues.

Brian

Great piece of work Brian. I've been waiting for DVB-T Radio.

I'm not sure if I've missed something, but is there a method/plans for recording using this plug-in? I'd like to record shows and download to mp3 player for listening on my commute.
Cheers,
Dave

Thanks - I hope it works well for you.

Ah....I was waiting for somebody to ask that. Smile

The original design concept was to allow for developing into a recording service but I needed to prove that it was stable first.

My current development version has a database for a 7 day radio EPG but I still need to do quite a bit of work to add a guide view (similar to TV Guide) to allow scheduling recordings. I'm hoping for a Beta version of a recording service in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,
Brian

Ha, glad I wasn't just missing some vital info.
If you need a hand with beta-testers, I'd be happy to oblige. Wink

I only found this a few days ago and have been trying to install. When I select it from the menu I get 'not set to an instance of an object. I've gone through the instructions a few times and don't think I've missed anything.

Are the radio channels set up through the app or do I need to add a new source in config? I notice in the logs a reference to mmc.xml not being found - where should this come from?

Thanks

Did you download the zip with the Channel Logos in? The following line from you log suggests you didn't or you extracted it to the wron place.
Code:
2008-05-28 20:03:09.640    VERBOSE    [1]    DVBTR: No channel data available.jpg not found
The logos zip contains a jpg file called CLNF.jpg which is used as a placeholder if you don't have a specific channel logo image. At first start, it uses this to show no channels are available. I think its abscence is causing the 'Object not set...' error you're seeing.

Quote:Are the radio channels set up through the app or do I need to add a new source in config?
It will prompt you to ask if you want to scan for channels if it doesn't have any channel data. This can take anything from 30 seconds to a minute or so.

Quote:I notice in the logs a reference to mmc.xml not being found - where should this come from?
Ignore that error - pvrx2 tries to find an mmc.xml file for all plugins.

Brian

I'll see how it goes - I may make it a public Beta while keeping the current release version available for those that don't like playing with Beta code.

Cheers,
Brian
