Ok, the new "Media Experience" works [Image: smile.gif] thanks. I noticed that the Wiki version log does not show the new version. Can you possibly update this, so that others, who miss this thread, see that a new version is out?

Now about OFDB.

It generally works for German Films. I used "Kleine Haie" from 1992 for testing. However, as reven already mentioned, the umlauts go missing.

Now some more details on a "negative" test:
- Started MyVideos and went to a film with German that is not in the database (German Startrek DS9 title ;-)
- Received message '[Search Results For "Star Trek Deep Space Nine 174. T'; the rest of the message is cut off, which seems an error to me; 0 objects are returned, which seems reasonable.

- I performed a "back" and was taken to the main screen

Question here: How do I get back to the video list from the empty search results?

- Went back to MyVideso and, again, was shown the empty list
- Pressed return and received an error (log at the end)

Comment: For me it is not intuitive that "Kleine Haie" is not found when using the "Best effort" method for retrieving information. My understanding would be that this iterates over all all methods either until finds something and then bluntly uses it. Or it compares all results and tries to find out which one suits best.

That's it for now.

Reven, are there some specific things you would like to see tested?

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

Some more ideas:

- It might be helpful to have an indication in the menu that OFDB is a German source. Quick-fix could be "DE" which is the ISO country code. What about a flag for later?

- As soon as you start adding more sources, which I think is a great thing, the menu gets filled up. What about giving people the choice to enable/disable using the config program?

im just going to leave it up to the end user to remove the sources they dont want to use from the menu list (i havent added "ofdb" to my list).  the reason why '[Search Results For "Star Trek Deep Space Nine 174. T' is cut off is just the length of the string is longer than the rectangle used to display the string (not a bug, just a skinning issue).  ill look into the zero results, usually i just hit back on my remote and all is well, something strange must have gone wrong.

best effort = amazon poster + imdb info (just something i did ages ago).

v2.1.6.4

fixed it so now the funny characters show up!

xtoph just test it with as many german movies as you can (well with any movies, i was testing it with "batman&quotWink. i tried it with zero hits, and i pushed escape and no crash, maybe it was just a one off thing, see if you can reproduce it, if you can, can you tell me the exact name you entered in via the onscreen keyboard? also ill probably allow people to config the popup menu in my vids v 2.2 or 2.3 (it was originally just a small menu that got away from me).

Was this a change: Not being able to get detail screen/cast from folders anymore?

I have all my files in folders (since some have sub files or are in parts), so I use the folders to browse and get info. I'm pretty positive I could do this from folders at one time, since I have never renamed the files to be friendly.

Is there a setting to get that folder funcitonality back? A setting I'm missing? It's been so great to have all that detail, but I can't seem to get to it.

i didnt do the info screen for folders, since you cant "play" a folder and well it didnt make a lot of sense. the best way to do it, is to grab the imdb info for a folder (eg enterprise) that way you get the cast of characters, the tagline, the runtime, the cert etc. and then use tv tome on each file in that folder. it will fill the missing info with the info found for the folder, so you can get tagline, cast of character cert etc so every little bit of info is filled. and then you can push right/left to browse thru the files in the info screen (havent mentioned this before, hopefully most of you figured it out).

there is a bug with the navigating whilst in info screen (the "play" button always regains focus.).

I was thinking of movies here, where there is just one movie per folder (but maybe a cpl of files, which is why they're in folders. I press ctril+r (I think it is) and it gets imdb info, but I can never view that detail. ctrl+o just brings up the window to do that same search, but no detail option. Maybe it's me, but I'd swear ctrl+r (or is that ctrl+o) would bring up detail before.

I guess I can subsequently lookup the file in the folder. If you're interested enough in the blub on the folder, you can do in to file, and get details there.

Also, the reason why I thought you could, or at least why it made sense, is because you can do poster and mini-description there. Since you went through the effort to make all that possible, it seemed logical you could get the detail, too.

Btw, You probably picked it for a different reason, but your name has been ringing a bell. Just realized it's one of the names in the game I'm playing now (KotOR II). That had been bugging me, like I knew you from someplace before.
