build 25 is out:

- Added frontend for dual crossbars.
- Added option for mixer pin (for mute, unmute).
- Cleaned up channel change operation drop down.
- Updated supported cards and encoders list in readme.txt file.

Let me know how it goes, because I haven't been able to test some of the updates.

normanr: Sorry it took me a while to response to your post on Mar 31. I just got back from vacation.

I tried what you suggested. I manually edited the graph to connect the audio in GraphEdit and hit 'play'. The TV tuner was not tuned to any channel but I did get sound (i.e. static)! That is good, right?

I tried checking the 'Use Video Card as source for Audio Card' but that did not fix the problem. Actually I got an "Error: The parameter is incorrect" message when I tried to open LiveTV. I could not even get video like before when that option was unchecked. There is an exception in one of the logs that may be helpful. I attached a zip with the logs and lastgraph.grf.

What is next?

normanr: I tried build 25. No luck. The graph did not change. I have attached the latest screenshot in a zip. It also contains an other before & after screenshot from Mar 17 showing what I did manually to 'play' in GraphEdit.

I'm currently using a Leadtek 2000XP Deluxe software-based card (with the WDM Recorder plugin) for my HTPC and while it works ok, some of the TV channels (antenna-source) look awful. I have a T-junction connector so I can use the same aerial for my TV and HTPC, and the channels look fine on the TV but some look really bad through the TV card. Also, I find that without using pay-to-use MPEG2 encoders like Elecard, the audio is out of synch with the video stream.

What sort of improvements in my HTPC experience would I see if I upgraded to a hardware encoding card like a Hauppage PVR150? Better image quality? Better synching without needing 3rd party encoders?

Hi Norman,

tried build 25...I've included my config.exe.log and the graph that it should be.

GBPVR doesn't connect to the wdm directsound filter.

Also, how do I get to the crossbar gui?

FYI: The log is from build 24. Try turning off the 'always renders audio in preview mode' option too. build 25 has two 'video source' dropdowns - one for each crossbar.

Norman,

I reinstalled build 25. I got it working in timeshift mode.

Here are the specs:
build 25
ATI AIW 9600xt
Ovelay - but I think VMR9 works as well
ATI Multimedia center video and audio encoders
(not ATI MPEG Video decoder which I think is the AVIVO filters)
EDIT: the AVIVO encoders work as well
Timeshift mode always on
I don't think it's the latest catalyst and mmc build (the one just before timeshift is forced to be always on, I installed in January 2006 - I'll get back to you on that one) EDIT: Catalyst 5.12, WDM Drivers 6.14, MMC 9.08
Cyberlink audio and video decoders

My crossbar setting was 1-0;2-2, 4-3

I still have to see if the recording works....later on today after work EDIT: recording works perfectly

In live preview mode it works in VMR9 only - Norman can you put in a switch to allow for overlay in the graph rendering? There's no sound because it doesn't know how to connect the wdm directsound filter. In timeshift mode GBPVR does all the rendering and it's playing the encoded mpeg file allowing for proper playback.

Norman what are the record twice and tune twice options for?

The summary:

ATI AIW 9600xt works in timeshift mode!!!

EDIT: one problem...it doesn't know how to transition to the next show when in timeshift mode. It keeps recording but the EPG data does not update.

Hi Norm,

Do you have any ideas on how to proceed with fixing this problem?

justincranford,

have you tried using timeshift mode? I found that in live preview there was no sound, but once I put it into timeshift mode there was sound. Just a thought.

Like you, the graph wouldn't connect the sound filters properly.
