PLayback position

I seem to ve having some reliabilty issues with the MVP, and that gave rise to an idea. If instead of the playback position beiing updated whenever the playback is stopped, would it be possible for the program to update the database record periodically? Maybe something like every minute. This way, when my stupid mvp decides to reset I would not have to fast-forward to get the point where I left off. I would only have to do so from the last point of the location update.
