laugh ... thanks again

This is the reason why nothing happened at my last test at 22:00h

I had the standby timer on two minutes

machine started ... nothing happened ... and got back to standby after 2 minutes ... lol

I will now have a test at 23.00h and powermanagement up to 15 mins.

We'll see (I'm sure it will work) ;-)

I'll tell you later ...

Thats OK I found the correct name of the file before.

BUT ... the machine does not go to standby while GB-PVR is in foreground.
Can I change that ?

Hi again,

I did some testing and much reading in the last days to solve my EPG-Update-Problem and I finally (nearly) did it.

When I do a test-run when I'm awake ...Big Grin everything works fine.

But set to a "night-run" (4:00h) and checking in the morning it seems NOT to have worked.

It looks like this:

At the end of the day I set the machine to standby using the menu of GB-PVR via remote.

GB-PVR-config is set to auto-update-epg with "wake-machine = on" and "complete EPG reload = on"

updateEPG.bat :

call c:\xmltv\xmltv.bat

xmltv.bat :

ping http://www.google.de
cd\
cd xmltv
xmltv.exe tv_grab_............. etc etc

#the ping at the beginning is used to force the internet connection because it sometimes stopped because there was none

postupdateEPG.bat :

@echo off
rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

#sets the machine back to standby (this is usually NOT done automatically by GBPVR after the update)

Why does this work when I set the time in GB-PVR-Config to for example 1 pm and it does NOT work at 4 am ?

Thanks in advance

I'm glad to see, you have come this far, let'just say: the harder the fight the greater the satisfaction :-)
Just an idea: maybe the machine needs more time after the ping command,
you could use a "sleep" command for that. Google for sleep and batchfile and I'm sure something will turn up.

well, thank you ... I'm aiming for the "perfect machine" so I won't stop until it works like that.

I will this night test another thing with the ping command

its: ping - 60 http://www.google.de #pings for 59 seconds

If this won't work I will have to install sleep.exe and do the next test.

But this far I'm pretty sure to get it to work!

OK ... thanks again and have nice easter days (coloured eggs included)

wow,

this is f****** brilliant !!!

I learn more about batch-programming as I have expected by installing a PVR software.

I just checked this function by pulling out the Internet-cable and plugging it in again ...

Works great for me ...

Let's see what the next night will bring ...

Thank you !

That's exactly what I experience! After checking I found that GBPVR does wake the machine, but then goes to sleep again. (My machine is set to go into standby after 10minutes). On some occasions, the updateEPG.bat did not even start, in other occasions, the PC just went into standby while the xmltv part was running, ....

The workaround that I am thinking about now is to schedule something else around the same time which keeps the PC awake. (I don't want to change the powersettings of the PC). But it would be nice if GBPVR could keep the machine awake during the updateepg.bat run.
