I am new here. I just installed the program and it seemed to work okay. I watched TV for a bit. I then started playing around with recording shows. I started a recording on a present show and now I cannot do anything in the program.

What I mean by "I cannot do anything" is that it is like the recording is never started. I get an error if I try to play the recording that I cannot watch it while I am recording it and if I try to look at the live TV I get an error:
"Error: Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length" with an Okay button.

Anyone have a clue what it going on?

There is no recording happening. I cannot cancel the recording. Even rebooting does nothing. Afterwards it still has in the "Pending" that it is recording the show.

I ran "Show Status" and it says
Recording Status
Hauppauge 150
Sleeping

I can open the WinTV2000 program and it starts the playing of the TV on channel 4 which is different then the channel that the program is suppose to be recording.

There is something else I see. If I select the check box for the configuration utility to show me the detected cards in the system I get that my card is not detected.

The really wierd thing about all this is that I could watch TV from the program previous to trying to record the show.

Any clue?

I found the problem but it was sort of by mistake.

I was playing around in the program with transcoding. When I loaded a file off of my network drive X: I got an error that C:\myshow.... could not be found.

I guessed that possibly there might be a problem with accessing another drive other then C: or possibly accessing a network drive directly. I went into the configuration utility and put down that recordings and buffers to be in c:\MyVideos instead of X:\.

Everything started working and the Recording Status now has that the show is recording and I can watch the show I am taping.

Go figure?

I guess my problem now is why can I not put the files on a network drive? I do this so that I can watch them from another computer.

The recording service runs under another user account, so it cant see the drives you've got mapped.

You could try changing the service to run under you user account.
