Conversion feature prevents auto standby

Hope this hasn't been spotted already and I can't find the thread.

After upgrading to 96.12 I decided to try the Conversion feature to convert all my recordings to DivX. (I did read the warning about conversion being experimental, so this isn't any kind of complaint, more of an information post)

Set it to auto convert every night between 1 and 4 am. Conversions all worked great, but having the feature enabled has stopped my machine from going into standby automatically.

It is set to standby after five minutes of inactivity using the Windows XP Power Management tools, and this does not happen when conversion is enabled, at any time of day. Turn off conversion, and auto standby works ok. So something is happening when conversion is enabled that makes the machine think it is still busy, so it won't standby. Its important to note that the machine will standby when I tell it to, either through the Start Menu or the power button.

The same thing happens if I use hibernate instead of standby.

Hope this helps someone, for now I've turned off conversion until its less experimental.

During the day - see if a program called ffmpeg is active.

This is what is actually being called to do the conversion. Depending on how many programs you have in back log, the processing power of your machine ect determines how long ffmpeg operates

the time period you set in GBPVR is only tells the system when to start queing and stop queing programs to ffmpeg for conversion

so if the time is 3:50am you will que another vid file to ffmpeg to be converted. ffmpeg will continue converting until the file is finished.

Some of my movies have taken up to 5 hours to convert (high quality setting).

Then post back if this is not the culprit.

I have made the same experience. My computer does not go to sleep anymore...

cannot find ffmpeg in process list...

I havbe just begun using GB-PVR and am also experienceing this problem with version 0.97.13. Did anyone ever find a solution to this that allows conversion to still work?
