The other day, there was an LED lit-up on the front of my WinTV PVR USB2, above the s-video in connector. I never saw this before, and it is off now. Is it supposed to light-up?

(no, I wasn't lit-up at the time :p )

This is a strange one, it's suppose to be on but I have had certain driver versions that never turned it on but it work fine. So I personally wouldn't worry about it if it works still.

Yeah, it works. It just freaked me out when it came on, because I'd never seen it on before.

I am using version 2.2.73_24023 found here:

http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...rusb2.html

Since installing that driver, for some unknown(to me) reason, I have to choose the Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2 as the capture card type in the Direct Recording Configuration screen of GBPVR config. If I choose WinTV PVR USB2, it says there are no drivers installed for that device.

It works great with GBPVR for scheduling and recording, but live tv skips occasionally, probably due to my old cpu and graphics card. I don't really need live tv, though, so that doesn't matter.

thanks for the driver suggestions. I am reluctant to make any changes now that I have everything working well. The only thing that would make me upgrade the middleware and driver is if they added a "wake on ir remote button press", but it sounds like they will never do that. Oh well!

This file claims to be a driver installer for a Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2. There is no information on http://www.hauppauge.com about such a device, at least not that I can find. There is only a WinTV PVR USB2. What gives?

The pvr2 usb2 is a newer version, I believe they use the same driver. I got my drivers from shspvr that I am using on the pvr usb2.
